My favorite Adventure Time episode - "Breezy" - Why it works?

These last few days I've slowed down a bit when it comes to watching movies. Instead, I've dedicated myself to marathoning Adventure Time every time I have free time, a task that takes a long time but is honestly worth it.

As I have said on other occasions, although it is an animated series with a mainly children's target, it is undeniable that the people in charge of Adventure Time felt an immense love for their characters and the universe they created, something notable in the large number of brilliant stories they were able to create over 10 excellent seasons.

I know it sounds a little silly to want to dedicate an entire post to one episode of this series, but I felt that "Breezy", the sixth episode of the sixth season, perfectly represents all those elements that made me fall in love with this series since the beginning.

Its premise is quite simple: after losing his arm trying to get his father back (for the first time in the main timeline), a flower mysteriously appears at the end of what was left of his limb, this flower is affected by his own emotional decay, and therefore a doctor from the sweet Kingdom recommends that he look for things that bring him happiness.

This is how Finn, finding himself at one of the lowest points of his life (let's also Remember that his girlfriend abandoned him a while ago) decides to start flirting with all the princesses he knows in Ooo, in order to get "kisses" for them to see if he can feel better.

My favorite part of "Breezy" is that apart from mixing a typical Adventure Time conflict with a darker subtext (Finn's depression), I think it has an extremely realistic way of approaching the confusing feelings of its protagonist, a boy who finds himself clinging to anything that can bring him even a little bit of happiness.

Although this seriousness never overshadows his lighter and funnier moments, it is undeniable that Breezy has a slightly more "murky" aura than normal and shows us very well this point of contact that Finn is having with the loss of his innocence.

For me, these are the type of episodes that demonstrate very well the value that Adventure Time has in the long term, when we leave aside the spontaneous gags and focus on the development of its characters, without ignoring the good and the bad moments they had.

Aside from this, while we haven't necessarily all had a moment in our lives where we start "kissing princesses" left and right, it's easy to identify with the desperate search for happiness and fulfillment, ignoring what our true desires are in reality, giving priority to some hedonistic and dumb fantasies.

Estos últimos días he perdido un poco el ritmo en cuanto a ver películas se refiere, en cambio, me he dedicado a maratonear Adventure Time cada vez que tengo ratos libres, una tarea que lleva mucho tiempo pero que honestamente está valiendo la pena.

Cómo he dicho en otras ocasiones aunque es una serie animada con un target principalmente infantil, es innegable que las personas encargadas de Adventure Time sentían un amor inmenso por sus personajes y el universo que crearon, algo notable en la gran cantidad de historias brillantes que pudieron contar a lo largo de 10 excelentes temporadas.

Sé que suena un poco tonto querer dedicar una publicación entera a un episodio de esta serie, pero es que sentí que "Breezy", el sexto episodio de la sexta temporada, representa a la perfección todos aquellos elementos que me hicieron enamorar de esta serie desde el principio.

Su premisa es bastante simple: luego de perder su brazo tratando de recuperar a su padre (Por primera vez en la línea de tiempo principal), misteriosamente surge una flor al final de lo que quedó de su extremidad, está, como consecuencia del su propio decaimiento emocional se ve afectada, y por ende una doctora del dulce Reino le recomienda buscar cosas que le brinden felicidad pars que la flor vuelva a sanar.

Así es como Finn, encontrándose en uno de los puntos más bajos de su vida (Recordemos que hace un tiempo su novia le abandonó) decide empezar a flirtear con todas las princesas que se encuentra en Ooo, con la finalidad de conseguir "besos" a cambio a ver si puede sentirse mejor.

Mi parte favorita de "Breezy" es que aparte de mezclar un conflicto típico de Adventure Time con un subtexto más oscuro (La depresión de Finn), pienso que tiene una forma extremadamente realista de abordar los confusos sentimientos de su protagonista, un chico que de encuentra aferrado a cualquier cosa que le pueda brindar si quiera un poco de felicidad.

Aunque está seriedad nunca opaca sus momentos más ligeros y divertidos, es innegable que Breezy cuenta con un aura ligeramente más "turbia" de lo normal y nos demuestra muy bien este punto de contacto que Finn está teniendo con la perdida de su inocencia.

Para mí, este son el tipo de episodios que demuestran muy bien el valor que tiene Adventure Time a largo plazo, cuando dejamos de lado los gags espontáneos y nos enfocamos en el desarrollo de sus personajes, sin ignorar lo bueno y lo malo que han tenido que vivir en esta brillante historia.

Aparte de esto, aunque no necesariamente todos hemos tenido un momento de nuestras vidas en el que empezamos a "besar princesas" a diestra y siniestra, es fácil identificarse con la búsqueda desesperada de la felicidad y la plenitud, ignorando cuáles son nuestros verdaderos deseos en pro de fantasías hedonistas.
