I think that of all the possible scenarios "The Flash" has just offered me one of the ones that frustrates me the most, because despite the fact that I feel that the thousands of negative comments I read about it (Many made even before its release) are very well founded, at the same time it is undeniable that Andy Muschetti's film hides a lot of potential.
Trying to make a timeline that would even allow us to understand a portion of how complicated it was to produce a Flash movie is an almost impossible task, since since its conception it was plagued by changes in directors, writers, a pandemic and multiple creative approaches due to the desperate efforts of DC Comics and Warner Bros to keep up with their main rivals: the successful Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The funny thing is that despite these constant changes, there are pieces of each of these stages in the flash... And some are much more "attractive" than others.
Does this mean that it is a "good" movie? Of course not, The Flash at times seeks to be an intimate and personal work that deals with Barry Allen's existential traumas, something that the controversial Ezra Miller honestly knows how to interpret perfectly, but the movie cannot contain himself and be focused, his airs of grandeur and seeks to conclude everything epically ends up ignoring the absence of an appropriate set up.
At times it also seeks to be a parade of cameos and meaningless references, with jokes and metanarrative gags that don't even have the decency to trust themselves, being forced to repeat several times in the hope that the viewer will take it all in while we're busy rolling our eyes.
It's unfortunate that Michael Keaton's return to the role of Batman is so inconsequential, totally rejecting what made Tim Burton's vision of the character so appealing in the first place and presenting us with the shell of a Super Hero without understanding his psyche and the universe around him.
Even more unfortunate is that DC lacks the confidence to sustain a movie of this type without resorting to fan service, considering that at the end of all those elements exclusive to the world of flash are the ones that end up saving the overall product and giving us the funniest and most emotional moments.
There are better alternatives in all areas: if you want an exploration of our childhood traumas, exaggerated CGI fights, if you want a story of time travel or that plays with the concept of the multiverse... There are more decent movies that address all these aspects.
However, I really appreciate when it tries to have a heart, and despite having a message diametrically opposed to that of the superior Across the Spider-verse (with which it is inevitable to make comparisons considering the lousy timing of both premieres) I don't feel it's a bad idea to accept our past wounds, even if this implies that our destiny is written.
The Flash was entertaining but it's not visually appealing, it's not particularly funny, and after a couple of hours it's easy to forget it happened.

Creo que de todos los escenarios posibles "The Flash" acaba de ofrecerme uno de los que me frustran más, porque a pesar de que siento que los miles de comentarios negativos que leí respecto a ella (Muchos realizados incluso antes de su estreno) estan muy bien fundados, al mismo tiempo es es innegable que el filme de Andy Muschetti esconde muchisimo potencial.
Tratar de hacer una linea de tiempo que si quiera nos permitiera comprender una porción de lo complicado que fue producir una película de The Flash es una tarea casi imposible, puesto que desde su concepcion estuvo plagada de cambios de directores, guionistas, una pandemia y múltiples de enfoque dirección creativa debido a los afanes desesperados de DC Comics y Warner Bros por seguirle el paso a sus rivales: el exitoso Universo Cinematografico de Marvel.
Lo gracioso es que a pesar de estos cambios tan constantes, existen retazos de cada una de estas etapas en the flash... Y algunos son mucho más "atractivos" que otros.
¿Esto quiere decir que es una película "buena"? Por supuesto que no, The Flash a ratos busca ser una obra intima y personal que lidia con los traumas existenciales de Barry Allen, algo que honestamente el polemico Ezra Miller sabe interpretar a la perfección, pero no puede contenerse y ser enfocada, tiene aires de grandeza y busca concluir todo epicamente ignorando la ausencia de un set up apropiado.
A ratos tambien busca ser un desfile de cameos y referencias sin sentido, con chistes y gags metanarrativos que ni siquiera tienen la decencia de confiar en si mismos, viendose obligados a repetirse en varias ocasiones con la esperanza de que el espectador capte todo mientras que nosotros estamos ocupados volteando nuestros ojos.
Es lamentable que el regreso de Michael Keaton al rol de Batman sea tan inconsecuente, rechazando totalmente aquello que hizo que la vision de Tim Burton del personaje fuera tan attactiva en primer lugar y presentándonos el cascarón de un Superhéroe sin entender su psique y el universo que le rodeaba.
Mas lamentable aun es que DC carezca de confianza para sostener una pelicula de este tipo sin recurrir al fan service, considerando que al final de todo aquellos elementos exclusivos del mundo de flash son los que terminan salvando el producto general y brindandonos los momentos mas divertidos y emocionales.
Existen alternativas mejores en todos los ámbitos: si quieres una exploracion a los traumas de nuestra infancia , peleas exageradas de CGI, si quieres una historia de viajes en el tiempo o que juegen con el concepto del multiverso... Existen peliculas mas decentes que abordan todos estos aspectos.
No obstante, aprecio muchisimo cuando intenta tener corazón, y, a pesar de contar con un mensaje diametralmente opuesto al de la superior Across the Spider-verse (Con la que es inevitable hacer comparaciones considerando pesimo timing de ambos estreno) no siento que sea una mala idea el aceptar nuestras heridas del pasado, aunque esto implique que nuestro destino esté escrito.
The flash fue entretenida pero no es visualmente atractiva, no es particularmente graciosa y luego de un par de horas es fácil olvidar que ocurrió.
