Over the years we have become a bit cynical when it comes to free to play games, from the days of Facebook with nostalgic gems like FarmVille, Pet Society or Restaurant City to our present day where it is quite common to see them on desktop consoles (Fortnite or PUBG to mention two prominent examples) have made us lose sensitivity to many of their characteristics, ironically, although we totally reject those games that are built around making players pay without remorse, there is a certain nostalgia in seeing those who decide to continue without any Kind of shame that formula.

The Simpsons Tapped Out is the result of this mentality, with the game that exists to put its users to pay and does not make any kind of attempt to hide it. The important thing here is to try to see if beyond all these micro-transactions there is a value: real entertainment.

Distributed by Electronic Arts and developed by one of its small sub-studios: Chineken, The Simpsons Tapped Out is far from being the only game in the yellow franchise, having in the past gems like Hit and Run, the classic Arcade or the most recent game inspired by the movie.

Although Tapped Out is neither as interesting nor as entertaining as these titles that I just mentioned, it is appreciated that it is a relatively ambitious foray from the world of Springfield into the world of video games (Again).

With a fairly simple argument that after a couple of minutes of gameplay loses importance, after Homer causes a meltdown in the nuclear plant as a result of carelessness, he destroys the entire city and we are in charge of rebuilding it.

In this way, Tapped Out is a Pandora's box filled with visual gags and references to the world of the Simpsons, present in every object, character and detail that we can customize in the city.

From the first moment it is evident that there are tedious periods of time that can be cut using real money (the normal thing) but it is not extremely annoying for those who want a couple of minutes of fun a day.

Far from being overwhelming with so many options, these are presented to us organically and the freedom we have is enough to know that our game is unique.

Tapped Out has a very nice visual style that perfectly replicates the simple animation style of the series, the music and the general presentation are quite neat.

The biggest negative point, of course, is the typical “pay to win” structuring that rations our games and limits our growth over time. Although it would be innocent enough of us to expect otherwise.

In summary, The Simpsons Tapped Out is a fairly entertaining mobile game and it carries with it all the advantages and disadvantages of free to play as a format, it does not do anything too innovative but it is quite pleasant.

Hey the Simpsons' version of the Sims! As you say it keeps the simple visual of the show. Entering for free is gonna be always a long road.

I remember playing this game when I was a child, I was looking for the tricks to have all the houses because I hated waiting 24 hours for a tavern to be built.
