Triangle of Sadness (2022) review: White Lotus Meets Don't Look Up.

One of the most recurring comments I've heard regarding "Triangle of Sadness" is that it's one of those movies that's best approached without knowing anything about it, an idea with which I fully agree for a number of reasons that will be explained. quite evident as the minutes go by if we decide to give it a try.

Divided into three chapters, Triangle of Sadness is an experience that, while it doesn't seem to have any form of narrative coherence, does have a fairly consistent theme if you pay enough attention. Vaguely inspired by other satires such as Don't Look Up, Parasite, or the recent White Lotus, although the idea of attacking the privileged upper classes and their level of disconnection with the real world is not totally new, we appreciate that on this occasion approached from such a fresh perspective.

Uno de los comentarios más recurrentes que había escuchado con respecto a "Triangle of Sadness" es que es una de esas películas que resulta mejor abordar sin saber nada de ella al respecto, una idea con la que coincido totalmente por una serie de razones que serán bastante evidente a medida que pasen los minutos si decidimos darle una oportunidad.

Dividida en tres capítulos, Triangle of Sadness es una experiencia que si bien no aparenta ninguna forma de coherencia narrativa, cuenta con un tema bastante consistente si préstamos suficiente atención. Vagamente inspirada por otras sátiras cómo Don't Look Up, Parasite, o la reciente White Lotus, si bien no es totalmente nueva la idea de atacar a las clases altas privilegiadas y su nivel de desconexión con el mundo real, agradecemos que en esta ocasión se aborde desde una óptica tan fresca.

Estamos frente a una película bastante sólida, y quizá, su único defecto sea la insistencia en tener una duración tan prolongada, dónde si bien es difícil señalar un segmento único que sobre, todo fluiría mejor si no invirtieramos tanto tiempo en aquellos eventos que objetivamente no resultan necesarios para ejecutar su genial final.
