Space Jam 2 es una película estrenada en la primera quincena de julio del 2021, dirigida por Malcolm D. Lee, conocido por ser un director de película de comedia al que solo había visto en Scary Movie 5, del género comedia y fantasía donde el famosísimo basquetbolista LeBron "The King" James deberá pedir ayuda a Bugs Bunny para reunir a los Looney Tunes y así formar un equipo de baloncesto y enfrentarse a Al-G Rythm, un algoritmo de la compañía Warner que se volvió malvado.

Space Jam 2 is a film released in the first half of July 2021, directed by Malcolm D. Lee, known for being a comedy film director whom he had only seen in Scary Movie 5, of the comedy and fantasy genre where the famous Basketball player LeBron "The King" James must ask Bugs Bunny for help to reunite the Looney Tunes and thus form a basketball team and face Al-G Rythm, a Warner company algorithm turned evil.

Todo empezó cuando el hijo del medio de LeBron, Dom, perdió el entusiasmo en el baloncesto porque su verdadera pasión son los videojuegos, y en especial crearlos. LeBron y Dom tienen un conflicto porque ninguno de los dos entiende al otro: Dom no siente que su padre lo apoye en lo que le gusta; y LeBron siente que está haciendo lo mejor para su hijo aún sin tomar en cuenta sus gustos y pasiones propias. A pesar de que ambos intentan hacer el esfuerzo por entender al otro y complacerlo,no lo logran y se sienten peor aún.

It all started when LeBron's middle son, Dom, lost his enthusiasm in basketball because his true passion is video games, and especially creating them. LeBron and Dom have a conflict because neither of them understands the other: Dom does not feel that his father supports him in what he likes; and LeBron feels that he is doing the best for his son even without taking into account his own tastes and passions. Although they both try to make the effort to understand the other and please him, they fail and they feel even worse.

The King James recibe una oferta de parte de Warner ideada por Al-G Rythm, interpretado por Don Cheadle (el mejor amigo de Tony Stark en The Avengers e Iron Man, el War Machine James Rhodes), creador del Servidor-verso. LeBron se niega al parecerle una idea estúpida, pero a Dom le parece una idea magnífica, y en venganza, Al-G Rythm pone en contra a padre e hijo y reta a LeBron a un partido para decidir su futuro.

The King James receives an offer from Warner devised by Al-G Rythm, played by Don Cheadle (Tony Stark's best friend in The Avengers and Iron Man, the War Machine James Rhodes), creator of the Serververse. LeBron apparently refuses a stupid idea, but it seems like a magnificent idea to Dom, and in revenge, Al-G Rythm turns father and son against each other and challenges LeBron to a match to decide his future.

🗣 Opiniones/Opinions 🗣

Yo no sé si la idea de la película era hacernos sentir nostalgia al recordar Space Jam del '96 con Jordan, junto a todos los momentos divertidos de esa película y regalarnos un bonito viaje al pasado. Si esa era la idea, no lo consiguieron. Space Jam: Una nueva era sí tiene muchos guiños hacia la precuela, con la aparición de varios personajes fuera de los Looney Tunes, así como la integración del "servidor-verso" con la cual relacionan a varias películas de la empresa como Harry Potter, Misterio a la orden, Tom y Jerry, Wonder Woman, La Liga de la Justicia... Este recurso me agradó bastante, he de admitir.

I don't know if the idea of the movie was to make us feel nostalgic by remembering Space Jam from '96 with Michael, along with all the funny moments from that movie and giving us a nice trip to the past. If that was the idea, they didn't get it. Space Jam: A new legacy does have many nods to the prequel, with the appearance of several characters outside of the Looney Tunes, as well as the integration of the "server-verse" with which they relate to several films of the company such as Harry Potter, Tom and Jerry, Wonder Woman, The Justice League... I really liked this resource, I have to admit.

La animación de la película es muy buena, bien trabajada. La integración de personajes reales con los animados es excelente, me gustó mucho el cambio que les da Al-G Rythm al Tune Squad y los convierte del estilo al que estamos acostumbrados de las caricaturas a uno 3D con texturas muy suaves y muy bien logradas. También me gustó la combinación de rasgos de jugadores de la NBA con animales para así crear el Goon Squad.

The animation of the film is very good, well worked. The integration of real characters with the animated ones is excellent, I really liked the change that Al-G Rythm gives to the Tune Squad and converts them from the style we are used to from cartoons to a 3D one with very smooth and very well achieved textures. I also liked the combination of NBA's basketball player traits with animals to create the Goon Squad.

🗣 Comentarios finales/Final comments 🗣

¿Qué me pareció la película? Fue buena, entretenida y me gustó mucho la aplicación de los diferentes recursos artísticos en la película. La animación, como dije, excelente. Los colores muy brillantes y bien aplicados; la historia no resalta demasiado y no es muy profunda que digamos. LeBron hizo un buen papel interpretándose a sí mismo y haciendo lo que mejor sabe, jugar. El mensaje que nos deja la película sobre la familia, la empatía, el tratar de entender los sentimientos y gustos de nuestros hijos/padres es muy bonito y necesario en esta era donde todo se da por sentado y los valores familiares están infravalorados.

What did I think of the movie? It was good, entertaining and I really liked the application of the different artistic resources in the film. The animation, as I said, is excellent. Very bright and well applied colors; the story does not stand out too much and it is not very deep, actually. LeBron did a good job playing himself and doing what he does best, playing basketball. The message that the film leaves us about family, empathy, trying to understand the feelings and tastes of our children / parents is very beautiful and necessary in this era where everything is taken for granted and family values are undervalued.

Al-G Rythm es un algoritmo de la empresa Warner que al sentirse humillado y no reconocido por los humanos, se vuelve malvado y busca venganza de quien lo hizo sentir así. Veremos muchos cambios en él, aunque siempre teniendo la maldad de trasfondo. Con Dom parece tranquilo, dándole consejos en base a los gustos del niño y dándole el apoyo que LeBron no le brinda. Con LeBron, es todo lo contrario; lo desafía y le hecha en cara la mala relación que tiene con su hijo, queriendo dividirlos aún más para que Dom esté de su lado y abandone a su papá.

Al-G Rythm is an algorithm that when feeling humiliated and not recognized by humans, turns evil and seeks revenge from whoever made him feel that way. We will see many changes in him, although always having the evil in the background. With Dom, he seems calm, giving advice based on the child's tastes and giving him the support that LeBron does not provide. With LeBron, it's the opposite; it challenges him and holds up the bad relationship he has with his son, wanting to divide them even more so that Dom is on his side and abandons his dad.

Jordan quien protagoniza una escena muy chistosa, no pueden dejar de verla porque les aseguro que es muy buena esa escena. También hay easter-eggs de otras películas y en especial la aparición de los Monstars en su versión pequeña.
