Hello hive friends, once again sharing with you. This time I brought you a review I did quite some time ago. Published in a blog and now published it here on hive. Besides series and movies I love anime and manga. So I share with you about this manga.
Fullmetal Alchemist is a manga written by the author Hiromu Arakawa of the genres Shonen, action and adventure released in 2001. It has two anime versions (Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) a live action movie, a series of Ovas and light novels of which I will comment later when I see them. God willing it will be soon.
Synopsis
The main characters of the manga are Edward and Alphonse Elric. Two young alchemists who are in search of the Philosopher's Stone. Because with its power they could recover what they have lost. Edward his right arm and left leg. Alphonse his entire body. This as a consequence of having tried to perform the human transmutation. Now Edward turned into a state alchemist (government alchemist) along with his brother will do everything possible to find her.
The manga
As you know I usually publish a section comparing both the anime and the manga but since I haven't seen any of the anime...I have nothing to compare. So I can only give an exclusive opinion of the manga.
I have an anecdote from when I started reading it. The page where I was reading it published chapter 1 wrong, since it was a collection of drawings that I understand came out after the end of the manga. So I started reading it from chapter 2, which totally threw me off since I didn't know what it was about. It seemed to me it was going too fast and didn't make sense to me. I was one step away from giving up and leaving disappointed. Luckily this did not happen.
My curiosity got the better of me and I was able to get chapter 1 and read it as it was meant to be read. And here I am after 1400 years, 13 days and 4 and a half hours. But who really counts them?
What I can say about it is that it is a very well done manga. First of all the world it's based on. Its country. Inhabitants. Political government. Everything was well planned. Inhabitants who practice alchemy, a science already forgotten for us but they managed to take it further (obviously all fiction but still) it's a steampunk world where the industrial revolution is in full swing. And alchemy turns out to be the most advanced technology created by man.
As for the characters. They are very well developed. Although Edward is arguably the main protagonist, Alphonse plays a pivotal role as Co-protagonist. And at no time is he overshadowed. Each secondary character has his or her importance and is worth learning about. See the wonderful Colonel Mustang. Just starting there, because imagine if I talk about Major Armstrong, Riza Hawkeye or Hohenheim (I never remember how to spell it), I'll never finish.
Every story arc is crucial. No death is unjustified. And nothing too dark to be genre-changing.
Conclusion
Completely exceeded my expectations. With a mind-blowing plot of equal parts fantasy world and action/adventure. I was hooked until the very end. This is why I give it a solid 10/10.
It's well worth the read.
That's as far as I go today, I hope you liked this post and are encouraged to read Fullmetal Alchemist. Hopefully next time I'll see you sooner rather than later.
