CineTV Contest #48- EMMA (2020)

Review by @rukkie · 1269d · of Emma

Hello Movie Lovers ❤️❤️❤️. This is another week of the #cinetv community contest. For this week's movie prompt: Favorite Romantic Comedy, I will be sharing a movie I love watching. I prefer watching horror movies, as I love how it keeps me on my toes 😃😃😃. Sometimes I find myself venturing into romcoms and they can be thrilling and funny but sometimes they can be a bit annoying especially when the male and female lead actors try so hard to deny the obvious attraction between them. The movie I will be sharing is titled "Emma" which is based on Jane Austen's 1815 novel of the same name. There had been a few versions of the movie. I will be sharing the new version: Emma (2020)

The movie is about a girl named Emma Woodhouse a young, rich, beautiful, inexperienced woman, who is also a feminist. While she might not believe in marriage for herself, she believes that she is an excellent matchmaker.

After her governess Miss Taylor got married and becomes Mrs. Weston, Emma searched for a new companion and settles on Harriet Smith, a younger girl who Emma supposed is the unclaimed child of a gentleman. Harriet's parents are unknown but her education has been provided for. Harriet looks up to Emma and follows her advice even when she isn't okay with it.

Another Actor that made the movie more thrilling to watch is Mr. Knightley who is a local landowner whose brother is married to Emma's sister and he often visits Emma and her father in their home.

Mr. Knightley always criticizes Emma mostly because she likes meddling in people's love lives. He mocks her and blames her when things go awry, I think that is his way of grooming her into a better person as they never see eye-to-eye on some things. Mr. Knightley once chastises Emma for cruelly making fun of Mrs. Bates, a poor woman who is also a compulsive talker(Though I think Mrs. Bates kinda deserves it because this woman never know when to shut up 🙄🙄🙄 ). In time, Emma and Mr. Knightley started feeling attracted to each other, and after they both shared a dance at a ball. Mr. Knightley's attraction for Emma became Stronger.

However, Mr. Knightley fears Emma is drawn to Frank Churchill (Mr. Weston's son who was raised by his aunt and uncle) while Emma thinks Mr. Knightley might be attracted to Jane Fairfax who is Frank Churchill's love interest.

After it was revealed that Frank Churchill and Jane Fairfax were engaged. Mr. Knightley finally summons the courage to tell Emma how he feels about her which she has also wanted as she is also in love with him. Emma rejects him at first because Harriet had told her she loves Mr. Knightley and in her words "I cannot break her heart again" as she felt guilty that her advice had made Harriet refuse the man she loves. After all the misunderstanding (as I would call it) had been cleared, Emma agrees to marry Mr. Knightley after he also assured her he will move in with her to remove her fears of leaving her father all to himself. In the end, Emma and Mr. Knightley got married.
