It's CineTv Contest#54. This week's theme is to choose a favorite Keanu Reeves movies and I can say they are a lot to choose from because he is an exceptional actor.
Keanu Reeves is one of the actors that I really love watching his movies. He is mostly known for his role in The Matrix franchise an John Wick Franchise. He is known for going in guns blazing and destroying his enemies. In 47 Ronin,he faced humiliation for being an half-breed,still he was the best warrior in the fight to revenge his master. Most of his movies and acting skills in those movies keeps us on our toes.
The movie I will be sharing shows another side of the actor, unlike the skilled weapon master we know. In this movie,his weapon was his words and as usual,he also showed his lack of emotion and zero sense of humour. The title of the movie is
DESTINATION WEDDING (2018)
This is a 2018 romantic-comedy starring Keanu Reeves as Frank and Winona Ryder as Lindsay. The movie gives an insight into Frank and Lindsay lives,they both lead miserable lives which makes them socially awkward.
They both met at the airport and merely standing beside each other was a problem and of course they started off on the wrong foot. They later found out after seating beside each other ( Not by Choice) that they are indeed going to the same wedding and they both knew the groom. It's funny how they both disliked each other yet they have some things in common.
The groom Keith is Frank's half brother and Lindsay ex- fiancé who left her six years ago. When Frank asks her why she's going to her ex-fiancé's wedding,she said she was invited by him and she is going because she wants to be the bigger person and also find closure.
For a guy who appears to have lack of humour,he sort of has a magnetic connection with Lindsay and mostly appear by her side and having an actual conversation. It sort of can't be helped seeing as they were both staying in adjoining rooms at an inn. At first,they were trying to stay out of each other's way but find out they sort of "enjoy" each other's company. I think it's probably because they are basically the same person. Well except for Lindsay who still believes in love while Frank thinks love is pointless.
This scene is actually a bit funny to me, it started with Lindsay asking Frank to carry her because the venue of the wedding is 90 feet up what looks like a mountain and she couldn't do it in heels. Frank reluctantly carried her and after the wedding, they sort of bumped into a mountain lion/ Cheetah/Jaguar/Cougar and Frank used his superpower which is "Hocking a phlegm" to chase the animal away.
I like the fact the the end of the movie Frank realized he sort of enjoyed her company and sought her out at her home after he had made it clear their meeting will be a one-time thing and shouldn't be prolonged. The movie sort of shows that you can meet someone who can change your view about things be it your choice of lifestyle or even your social status which proved Lindsay right that they is indeed Somebody for Everyone.
As usual Keanu Reeves gave an excellent performance in this movie though I would have preferred if he didn't talk too much because we know "Baba Yaga" to be a man of few words but all the same the movie is an interesting one.
