I love Las Vegas.
Seriously. With a passion. I'm not a wild and crazy partier by any stretch of the imagination, I just really like the place. I can't really explain the attraction of the place. I'm not a fan of crowds, I don't drink and my ability to flirt has been called sad and... well just sad, really.
I do love spectacle though. I may not be a fan of crowds but I love people watching. And shows and slots, within reason I guess.
Anyway, I have always wanted to see this movie because, well it's Vegas and I'm in Prince Rupert in northern British Columbia. Plus Robert DeNiro, Kevin Kline, Morgan Freeman, Michael Douglas and Mary Steenburgen.
Plus Las Vegas.
And this film really presents Las Vegas in all its glory.
Michael Douglas is Billy and he's getting married to a girl less than half his age and he's getting his oldest friends together for a bachelor party in Vegas. Of course, all the history, good and bad come with them and there are laughs and some tears.
The part I was dreading was that this would be one of those old guys being raunchy but it wasn't. The film had a couple of those moments but it did look at the whole idea of getting older and how those issues can be addressed, especially loneliness. And the fear of getting old alone. And I was really impressed with how that was handled here.
I liked it.
Plus, Vegas is gorgeous.
