There was a time, before Disney bought Marvel and Lucasfilm, and outside of their Touchstone Pictures shingle, that the studio released live action movies under the Disney name. It's probable that they still do from time to time but the last one I can think of is Disney's The Kid, starring Bruce Willis or, maybe Race to Witch Mountain with Dwayne Johnson. They were always more family-friendly and fun little adventures.
Flight of the Navigator is one of those family-friendly, fun little adventures. Joey Cramer plays Danny, a boy who disappears in 1978 only to show up eight years later having not aged. Taken into custody by NASA, he escapes and joins up with a space ship, also in their custody, and they go on the run.
The Good:
It's charming. It's harmless fun. It's inoffensive.
The Bad:
It is a little cheesy.
