Insomniac Movie Marathon: High Anxiety

Review by @rvgenaille · 2424d · of High Anxiety

High Anxiety came out in 1977 and is an homage to the films of Alfred Hitchcock from director Mel Brooks. Brooks is Dr. Richard Thorndyke, new head of the Institute for the Very, Very Nervous. He suffers from high anxiety. He is framed for murder. Hijinks ensue. image I’m torn on this one. I did not like the gay jokes. I liked the random non sequitur stuff, the orchestra on a bus is almost a cliché at this point but was probably still fresh when this came out. The “breaking the fourth wall” stuff was fun as was the dramatic over-the-top acting. Harvey Korman is funny. Mel Brooks too.

I don’t know though, it doesn’t seem to stand the test of time.

Watchable but doesn’t hold up very well.
