I love the Looney Tunes characters. Always have. I so want to like Space Jam. So, so much.
Space Jam is a mix of live action and cartoon that brings together Bugs Bunny and NBA superstar Michael Jordan. The Looney Tunes are competing in a basketball game to win their freedom from some bad guys who want to make them the star attraction in Moron Mountain, a space amusement park.
When the bad guys steal the powers of basketball stars making them the Monstars, Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck grab Michael Jordan to help them out.
Hijinks ensue.
Well, actually there are hijinks all over the place. The cartoon characters are given ample opportunity to display all of their defining traits and it is very hit and miss. Some are great, some not so much.
It doesn’t quite work, there is a definite feeling of corporate interference, a lot of branding everywhere.
