Lawrence Kasdan directed The Accidental Tourist which stars William Hurt, Kathleen Turner and Geena Davis. It is based on a novel by Ann Tyler, something I didn’t know but the movie has me thinking of seeking it out. The movie is about a travel writer whose son has died. As the film begins, his wife announces that she wants a divorce. It’s a comedy.
A good one. A gentle one. More of a light drama I guess. Hurt is Macon Leary and his wife Sarah is played by Kathleen Turner. Davis is Muriel Pritchett, a dog trainer who looks after his dog at the last minute one day and, sort of, forces herself into his life.
The Good...

William Hurt is really good. Very good. Geena Davis won an Academy Award for her performance and she’s good. So is Turner and Bill Pullman and pretty much everyone in this film.
This is a film for actors. They are given the opportunity to shine and they do. It’s great!
The Not So Good...
It’s all good.
I really enjoyed this one.
