Una Grata Sorpresa Nunca Está de Más
¡¡¿¿Hey, que tal gente de Hive Blog??!! En esta ocasión regresamos con otra review, esta vez de una película un tanto fuera de lo habitual, para mí, ya que no suelo ver este tipo de género al estilo Resident Evil, virus, mutaciones y todo ese tipo de cosas. Esta vez, hablaremos un poco sobre The Gorge (O su traducción al español “El Abismo Secreto”) una película llena de misterio, acción, romance y un gran secreto por descubrir. Antes de continuar me gustaría anunciar que este post contiene spoilers de la película, así que si no la han visto vayan a verla y luego regresan o si no les importa, sigan leyendo.

This time we are back with another review, this time of a movie a bit out of the ordinary, for me, since I don't usually watch this kind of genre like Resident Evil, viruses, mutations and all that kind of stuff. This time, we will talk a little bit about The Gorge, a movie full of mystery, action, romance and a big secret to discover. Before we continue I would like to announce that this post contains spoilers for the movie, so if you haven't seen it go see it and then come back or if you don't mind, keep reading.
The Gorge, una película protagonizada por Miles Teller y Anya Taylor-Joy, donde nos encontramos con Levi (Miles Teller) y Drasa (Anya Taylor-Joy), personas altamente capacitadas en cuanto a entrenamiento militar y manejo de armas, ambos, completamente desconocidos, tienen la misión de proteger “El abismo” un lugar al que cada año ocurre cambio de guardia y deben asegurarse de que lo que sea que esté ahí adentro, no salga. Técnicamente esa sería la premisa de este film, yo me aventure a verlo únicamente por su portada, no vi ningún tráiler ni nada por el estilo, y a decir verdad, me llevé una grata sorpresa.
Tan sencilla como eso es la premisa de esta película y si tendría que recomendársela, les diría que sí, es una película que primordialmente cumple con su función: Entretener, tiene toques de acción, misterio, un poco de romance por parte de los protagonista y a fin de cuentas sí te genera curiosidad saber qué paso en el “abismo” y qué hay detrás de todo eso, que ya les digo yo varias sorpresas me llevé (capaz influya el hecho de no haber visto el tráiler, y a día de hoy cuando estoy escribiendo esto sigo ni verlo) cada que avanzaba la película.
The Gorge, a film starring Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy, where we meet Levi (Miles Teller) and Drasa (Anya Taylor-Joy), highly trained people in terms of military training and weapons handling, both, completely unknown, have the mission to protect “The Gorge” a place where every year there is a change of guard and must ensure that whatever is in there, does not get out. Technically that would be the premise of this film, I ventured to see it only for its cover, I did not see any trailer or anything like that, and to tell the truth, I was pleasantly surprised.
As simple as that is the premise of this film and if I had to recommend it, I would say yes, it is a film that primarily fulfills its function: Entertain, it has touches of action, mystery, a bit of romance on the part of the protagonists and at the end of the day it does make you curious to know what happened in the “abyss” and what's behind all that, and I tell you, I had several surprises (maybe the fact that I had not seen the trailer influences me, and today when I am writing this I still haven't seen it) every time the film progressed.
En este film tampoco es que contamos con gran cantidad de personajes para recordar, diría que los más importantes son tres, Levi, Drasa, Bartholomew (me vengo enterando que se llama así ese personaje, no recuerdo que la llamaran por ese nombre pero bueno) y J.D que es buen tipo. Las interpretaciones están a la altura, después de todo Miles Teller y Anya Taylor-Joy son muy buenos actores comprometidos con su trabajo, aunque si tengo para decir que quizás como pareja no funcionen mucho visualmente hablando, su trabajo juntos es fenomenal pero sinceramente es una pareja que me hace mucho ruido visual nunca imagine verlos actuando como pareja en una película y ahora que los veo no me terminan de convencer pero ya son cosas mías, quizás a otros les guste.
In this film we don't have a lot of characters to remember, I would say that the most important are three, Levi, Drasa, Bartholomew (I've been learning that this character is called by that name, I don't remember that she was called by that name but well) and J.D. who is a good guy. The performances are up to par, after all Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy are very good actors committed to their work, although I have to say that perhaps as a couple do not work much visually speaking, their work together is phenomenal but honestly it is a couple that makes me much visual noise never imagine seeing them acting as a couple in a movie and now that I see them I do not end up convincing but it's just me, maybe others like it.
Como dije al principio este post contiene spoilers, y vaya que me llevé una sorpresa cuando descubrieron que todo el asunto del “Abismo” es debido a un virus, no soy muy fan de este tipo de películas pero en esta ocasión agradezco no haber visto el tráiler y adentrarme a ver la película de buenas a primeras quizás y algo de eso salía en el tráiler muy probablemente no la hubiese visto. Toda este tema del “Abismo” y cómo lo maneja me gustó mucho, generan la intriga necesaria para mantenerte pegado a la pantalla queriendo saber más acerca del misterio que lo rodea.
La banda sonora no se queda atrás, compuesta por Trent Reznor y Atticus Ross, no regalan excelente acompañamiento sonoro en cada uno de los momentos significantes de la película y más cuando los protagonistas se encuentran en el abismo, este factor fue los culpables para que me llevara un buen susto, llevaba tiempo que una película no lograba hacer eso y me toca decir que aquí ocurrió.
As I said at the beginning this post contains spoilers, and boy was I surprised when they discovered that the whole “Abyss” thing is due to a virus, I'm not a big fan of this kind of movies but this time I'm thankful I didn't see the trailer and went to see the movie right off the bat, maybe if some of that was in the trailer I probably wouldn't have seen it. This whole “Abyss” theme and how it handles it I really liked it, they generate the necessary intrigue to keep you glued to the screen wanting to know more about the mystery that surrounds it.
The soundtrack is not far behind, composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, they give excellent sound accompaniment in each of the significant moments of the film and more when the protagonists are in the abyss, this factor was the culprit for me to take a good scare, it had been a while since a film failed to do that and I have to say that here it happened.
Mi recomendación para esta película es que la vean, quizás no de inmediato, pero si les recomiendo que no esperen mucho, una trama lo suficientemente intrigante como para mantenerte al tanto de cada minuto, un buen desarrollo y desenlace de la historia, únicamente entretenida para ser estar poco más de una hora viendo solo a dos actores compartiendo el mayor tiempo en pantalla. Al principio no lo sabía pero al darme cuenta que este film viene de la mano del director de “Teléfono Negro” (Scott Derrickson) espere mucho ya que esa fue una película que me gustó mucho.
My recommendation for this film is to see it, maybe not immediately, but I recommend you not to expect too much, a plot intriguing enough to keep you aware of every minute, a good development and outcome of the story, only entertaining to be a little more than an hour watching only two actors sharing the most screen time. I didn't know it at first but when I realized that this film comes from the director of “Black Telephone” (Scott Derrickson) I was expecting a lot since that was a film I liked a lot.
Espero y puedan disfrutar de “The Gorge” al igual que yo, esta buena para ver solo y acompañado, pero sinceramente creo que es ese tipo de películas para ver después de un largo día, descansar y verla sin compañía mientras comes algo o simplemente tomas una buena taza de café ¡¡Hasta una próxima review!!
I hope you can enjoy “The Gorge” as much as I did, it's good to watch alone and with company, but honestly I think it's that kind of movie to watch after a long day, relax and watch it without company while you eat something or just have a good cup of coffee!
