A Movie Review- The Amazing Spider-Man II Directed by Marc Webbs and produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmad [ENG-ESP]

I know the movie might be quite old or this write-up is actually on a movie that was released in 2014, which happened to be in the cinema 8 years. So, I’m guilty as charged, I watched a movie that’s old but there are others who still watch movie that were produced in the 1990s. But before you judge me or sentence me to any of your comments, give me a chance to defend myself by telling you why I had to watch the movie recently.

First of all, I got engrossed in the Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone’s love triangle created on set and even off the set. Andrew Garfield is an English and American actor who happened to play Peter Parker, the smart nerdy science boy who gained super strength and spider webs shooting out of his hands after being bitten by a spider. While Emma Stone is a talented American who plays Gwen Stacy, the smart science girl that helps spider-man in being a better super hero with her love and bold actions when needed. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone built a very loving and admirable relationship while playing their respective characters for the movie.

Funny enough, the bond they had to exhibit for the romantic story between their characters Peter and Gwen did not just die on set. It became cool and stronger that every spider-man fan became a fan of their relationship off screen. Videos and lovely pictures from their gathering were posted on social media and even romantic scenes from their movie were also posted too. So this drew my attention and made me eager to find out how this friendship started off, so I watched the movie, coupled with the remarks from my friends, “how come you haven’t watched The Amazing Spider-man”. So I had to watch it as soon as possible.

The movie is based on the marvel popular comic book known as Spider-man by Stan Lee. The movie features renowned actors and actresses like Jamie Fox, Emma Stone, Paul Giamatti, Andrew Garfield, Embeth Davidtz, Dane DeHaan and others. In part 2 of the amazing spider-man, we get to experience how Peter Parker tries to uncover the mysterious disappearance and death of his parents. His parents, Mr and Mrs Parker who happen to be scientists. His father discovered the secret behind cross-breeding, that is adding a gene from one animal to another. This knowledge Mr Parker discovered served as the tool for creating super strong soldiers. In advent to prevent his research from reaching the wrong hands, he decides to flee with his wife but leaving his son, Peter behind with Aunt May and Uncle Ben. Although all these happened in the first part of the movie, I just felt the need to lay a background for the movie. The second part of the amazing spiderman focuses on how Peter Parker unravels the misery behind his parents story, while fighting villains, Electro and Harry Osborn his childhood friend, all at the same time.

More so, the movie made a total of $709 million dollars at the box office despite the fact it received poor criticism from critics. But it still received good applauds from viewers, spiderman fans and me because of the brilliant chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone exhibited in the movie. Their love story was quite different and unique, unlike other superhero movies where the hero is always burdened with the responsibility of safeguarding his lover at all times. But this time with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy, the case is different cause Gwen acts as a hero too when she decided to save the city by restoring power to the power grid. This act of hers, changes the narrative in the movie and the way I view superhero movies as well.

I wouldn't say much in order not to giving out too much spoilers to the upcoming late spiderman fans who will still watch the movie for the first time or once more. A huge thumbs up to the director for the will directed scenes most especially the action parts, the scriptwriters for the story line and most of all Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone for making The Amazing Spider man II a lovely romantic movie to watch during the weekend.
