It is the weekend and the best time for me to watch movies. To kickstart the weekend, I watched Prime Video's latest movie, Playdate, starring Kevin Jammes as Brian and Alan Ritchson as Jeff. Kevin James, I know for comedy movies, as he is a comedian, but Alan Ritchson is a serious actor, and I know him for his seriousness and action from the series The Reacher.
The movie goes like this: Brian becomes a stay-at-home daddy since he just lost his job as an accountant, then his wife returns to work. Brian uses the opportunity to bond more with his son, but what was so funny right from the start was when his son was trying out for the sports team, and he told his son about how in movies the hero gets the ball and makes the winning move but he forgot to tell the son that he does not have to move slow like they do in the movies. So when the boy got the ball, the crowd was cheering, but the boy was moving so slowly. He got knocked out faster than expected. 
What next grabbed my attention was when Brian tried to defend his son from his bullies, only to end up getting bullied as well. It is interesting to know that his wife suggested he should fix a playdate with another parent as a means to make new friends. This is where Jeff, played by Alan Ritchson, comes into play. They get to have a playdate, and they come friends from quite an interesting playdate, and then everything runs while.
After the playdate, the bad guys after Jeff came into the picture. They are after Jeff because of CJ, an experiment kid Jeff took from the laboratory while serving as the guard. After rescuing the kid, he builds a father-son bond with the kid, which makes it difficult for him to let go. It comes as a surprise since Brian was unaware of this, but he gets looped in. It even became worse for Brian as labelled a child predator since the attendant at the game house felt he had kidnapped CJ. 
The action is quite on point for a comedy, especially the car chase. Imagine being chased and you still have the time to listen to music on the highest while playing a movie for the kids in the back. Brian and Jeff's sons become close friends, making it even harder for the dads not to be one. The dads are busy trying to figure things out, while the boys are busy living their best lives.
Even when they were on the run, Jeff ran into the soccer moms who were all driving the same family van. Trying to blend in just to escape from the people chasing them, but Brian's Amber Alert makes it difficult for it to play out. The soccer moms pulled up a car chase on them as well setting up a formation to derail them but thing did not play into the favour of the soccer moms. The car chase scenes contributed to the action, but what they were saying while driving made it funnier. 
Playdate might get serious awards because it is not a serious movie, but it is something you could watch this weekend and relax.

Para comenzar el fin de semana, vi la última película de Prime Video, Playdate, protagonizada por Kevin Jammes como Brian y Alan Ritchson como Jeff.
