Hi Everyone!
It's been a hell of a ride for me. I'm sick, I also have a surgery to do soon (My ganglion Cyst resurfaced). I really don't wish to talk much about these things. I just watch movies, World cup, and hang out with friends.
Anyway, As a movie fanatic, it wouldn't be quite strange or new if I say I have embarked on a new Netflix project, as we know that the quest for entertainment is something of great importance in the world we find ourselves in today.
I took it upon myself to finally watch a random series or something more like an original without doing too much research about the movie, like reading the plot, googling the cast and crew involved in the production of the movie, or even watching the movie's trailer. Although I will confess that a friend recommended the series in past but she didn't say much about it or overhype it.
And this happens to be Netflix's original series OZARK. Ozark is an American series that focuses on the life of Marty Byrde and his family of two kids, a boy and a girl, and his lovely wife Wendy. Marty happens to be a brilliant accountant with a good understanding of numbers and years of financial experience to back him up, but the sad part of his story is he happens to work for the second-deadliest drug cartel in Mexico, headed by Mr. Navarro.
It's quite funny how a brilliant accountant like Marty got himself entangled in the affairs of the cartel, but if one should look closely, it becomes easy to spot the trace. Aside from being a brilliant accountant with experience, Marty has a vast understanding of the rudiments of money laundering. How to make the money clean, inject it into circulation, and get the Feds off your trail.
Like Marty would say
Money Laundering 101.
Say you come across a suitcase with five million bucks in it. What would you buy? A yacht? A mansion? A sports car? Sorry. The IRS won't let you buy anything of value with it.
I sincerely enjoyed how hooked I got from the first episode, and how the suspense was dynamically built between the characters, Mr. Navarro the drug lord, Marty the accountant, and his partner Bruce.
A distinctive concept I took from the series is how Marty and Wendy remained calm even when their marriage was on the edge, due to Wendy's affair. I can say it took more than courage for Marty and Wendy to still stay married while disguising their martial issues from their kids. They showed me a lesson that while you are having issues with your spouse, there is a need to keep it private between the both of you, thereby neglecting third-party involvement to avoid being advised by the wrong counsel.
Oh my oh, when it came to raising their children, I wouldn't say they were the best form of parents, cause they are money launderers but one thing I can say for sure is they did their best when it comes to providing the necessary amenities, like food, shelter and most importantly treating them like adults. It became a huge blow when they finally dropped the bomb on their kids about the nature of their job and who daddy works for. Damn, that scene was electric. It literally gave me goosebumps all through.
I'm far gone in the series but I'm more than certain there is surely more to come before I finally get to the ending parts. Although I think the series has come to an end which is too bad but I will still keep the merry going around for me with my popcorn by my side.
