Sometimes we just have to give people a chance and when it comes to movies or series, we also have to do the same. A friend of mine has been lobbying me for a while to watch the new series on Netflix called WEDNESDAY but with my previous encounter with him where he recommended a particular movie to me, which I didn't find quite interesting, it was a little bit harder for me to actually listen to him this time around. Until I got struck by the complexity of making a choice on what to watch on my Netflix app. It isn't a joke at all, and I feel we need to talk more about it, about how difficult it can get when you are trying to make choice out of the numerous options of movies listed on Netflix. And I tell you it's not funny at all.
Since making a choice on what to watch for a day on Netflix was the dilemma I was facing for the day, I decided to request a recommendation from another friend, but this time a female, cause I need to try a feminine side of things. To the fullest of my surprise, she recommended the same movie as well. Damn, this raised my curiosity towards finding out what exactly makes this movie so interesting and topping the Netflix top 10 charts.
Then, I had to take the conventional step, searched for the movie, sit back and watch it with an open mind for entertainment and space for harsh criticisms in case the movie was what I wanted, in which my friends would receive it hot from me for the poor recommendation.
Oh my oh, oh my oh!!!!!!!! The movie was a good match. It simply had a touch of suspense, intrigue, a little bit of horror, gothic vibes, and above all sarcasm. At every point in each episode of the series, it felt like reading a book because of how frequently the lead character kept us in the loop with the thoughts flowing through her devious mind.
The series WEDNESDAY is a movie focused on the lead character with the same name as well. It is even more ironic cause one would think she was born on a Wednesday but oh my, that just happens not to be the case. She was even born on Friday the 13th into a family of superhumans. While watching, the series gave me the same feeling I got from watching Legacies, a spin-off from the hitmaker supernatural series The Originals since it focused on students with supernatural power in a rich boarding school, but this time feeling was heightened.
Wednesday portrays herself as a strong young lady who has preoccupied herself with the job of finding out the mystery buried within the town her boarding school is situated. One thing I find interesting about this character is how people have jumped to the conclusion or summed up their minds that she's completely evil and a true psychopath, which is actually not entirely true. Yes, I agree she is quite evil, in fact really devious but what I could see was a lady with extreme powers who is mean only when you cross her path. She portrays the true example of an individual that builds up a strong protective wall in form of repulsion in order to deny herself the opportunity of being rejected.
In conjunction, one has to commend her she stays in control of the situation at all times with her savviness and witty words, which never fails to make use of. I can get even begin to explain how flabbergasted I get whenever she makes use of intellectual sarcasm. It's simply top-notch and off the hook. The way she talks, walks, and even acts, just goes a long way to say that she never let anyone define who she is as a person and most importantly a lady. I just put it out there, Wednesday knows she's a weirdo in all most cases but she rocks it with pride and joy. Oh my, that has to be the highest form of self-confidence.
