Up in the Air Movie Review

Review by @seki1 🏆#40 🎵115 🎬48 📺77 📚1 · 8d · of Up in the Air

What do you need to live the perfect love story? Some would think it's money or the right partner or even the perfect wedding in the right place. Putting to much thought in the prospect of relationships and overthinking the idea of being together, being happy and living in such a state. Making plans and schedules and guidelines for such things when in reality life can scatter those plans and throw them up in the air.

Up in the Air. ✈️

*** ### Plot > Ryan, a downsizing expert, has been put in charge of an intern with bright new ideas and filled with hope. While taking her on his trips, he meets Alex, another flier and then they begin a casual relationship. *** Now despite my post introduction, this isn't a love story, this is real life. Well, not really real life as it is fictional, but it is as realistic as unfortunate business romantic relationships could get, especially one where the business isn't the best for building homely, romantic relationships.

We look at Ryan Bingham, a man who lives out of a suitcase. Week in and Week out, he's on the move to different companies to fire employees as the companies are too cowardly to do it themselves. It's a fast, lightweight and rather dreary life but it's one he enjoys, one where faces are a blur and lines are meant to be cut. Ryan is an interesting character in this concept, he isn't someone who just lives in the single and charming bachelor trope, he's one who loves it and preaches it, to the extent where he had a "Backpack Philosophy." He is shown giving motivational speeches using the "What's in your backpack" metaphor to tell people to shed possessions, responsibilities and relationships so they can live light and free and it was a concept he truly believed, until he met Alex.

Alex is another flier who Ryan meets on a flight and they instantly hit it off because of their similar beliefs and likes. The romance was natural, ecstatic and powerful, one that you would expect and yet still be delightful to see, it was a beautiful thing to experience, right up till the end.

Natalie's role was something like an intermittent character, she added a certain flavor into the movie. The young adult who is still moved by love and their passions for their work.

1004657272.jpg 1004657273.jpg

Something that felt nostalgic for Ryan and Alex. She came with big changes, big hopes and big dreams, and like reality is cruel, she learned the hard way that growing up is sometimes learning how to be disappointed, not chosen and moving on.

1004657275.jpg

Sometimes, it's even cruel.

1004657276.jpg

The movie has a lot of themes and a very wicked twist that'll have you shook at the end, the way it was unexpected is what made its execution so good.

1004657278.jpg

It's a movie that talks about the illusion of total independence, and the true weight of human relationships, something that I feel everyone would experience in their lifetime. I rate it at a 8/10 and I totally recommend.

Nice and fun movies which even it is from 2009 it reflects nowadays way of living. For example when I need to commute for work and be in the office, I fly to it.

It's a movie that talks about the illusion of total independence, and the true weight of human relationships,

That's a kernel of wisdom I would expect from someone twice your age. You rarely disappoint, my young friend :)

I thought Vera Farmiga was memorable in this role. Clooney and Kendrick were fine, also.

Good review for a really good movie.
