Come di consueto oggi vi porto dentro una nuova Anteprima di un articolo che fra qualche giorno o settimana vedrete Nella Mente di un SerialFiller, il mio blog interamente incentrato sul mondo delle serie tv e di cui, da qualche mese, ho deciso di regalarvi costantemente, in anticipo su quello che pubblicherò, gran parte dei post che vedrete su www.serialfiller.org.
Si tratta di Sam, che durante la sua seduta si presenterà con beretto in testa, occhiali da sole e quello che scopriremo essere un nome non suo. L'istinto, sin da subito, ci dice che Sam potrebbe essere il nostro uomo, colui che, per qualche ignota ragione, ha incatenato il suo stesso dottore ad un letto. Scopriremo che, per una volta, il nostro istinto non sbagliava ma resteremo, comunque, di stucco, di fronte alla motivazione.
Sam, interpretato dal sempre magnetico Domhall Gleeson, è, di fatto, un serial killer, un uomo che, pur non ritenendosi pazzo non riesce a resistere alla sua compulsione omicida (e qui mi è tornato in mente subito il Jeff Dahmer di Evan Peters). Il rapimento di Alan, l'averlo messo in catene, è dettato dalla voglia di Sam di uscire da questo tunnel e smettere di uccidere. Boom! Tensione alle stelle, curiosità a mille, voglia di andare avanti che neppure sto qui a sottolineare. Un dilemma etico avrò sicuramente annebbiato la mente di Alan e, al tempo stesso, la nostra. Aiutereste un serial killer a smettere di uccidere? Non farlo salverebbe la vostra coscienza ma, probabilmente, causerebbe altri morti. Cosa fare allora? Quale delle 2 violazioni etiche abbracciare? Aiutarlo o denunciarlo (ammesso che incatenati possiate farlo) / fare finta di aiutarlo? L'ho trovato bellissimo come plot e l'ho trovata una sorta di variazione sul tema rispetto a quello che Dexter aveva avviato circa 15 anni fa (qui la recensione del reboot). Tutto molto in tono, tutto molto intrigante. 20 minuti per 10 episodi equivalgono a 3 ore del nostro/vostro tempo. Sicuro che volete spenderle altrove?

As usual, today I am bringing you inside a new Preview of an article that in a few days or weeks you will see In the Mind of a SerialFiller, my blog entirely focused on the world of TV series and of which, for the past few months, I have decided to constantly give you, in advance of what I will publish, most of the posts you will see at www.serialfiller.org.
Fortunately, at the end of the episode, we find out who, and more importantly why, has imprisoned him. The next few minutes allow us to understand who Alan really is. A man, basically alone, devoted to his patients. With the demeanor and face of a reassuring doctor, Alan seems to be immersed in his profession. We are shown various sessions with his patients of whom one attracts, more than the others, our attention. It is Sam, who during his session will show up with a beret on his head, sunglasses and what we will discover is a name that is not his own. Instinct, right away, tells us that Sam could be our man, the one who, for some unknown reason, has chained his own doctor to a bed. We discover that, for once, our instincts were not wrong, but we are left, nonetheless, dumbfounded, at the motivation.
Sam, played by the always magnetic Domhall Gleeson, is, in fact, a serial killer, a man who, while he does not think of himself as insane, cannot resist his murderous compulsion (and here I was immediately reminded of Evan Peters' Jeff Dahmer). Alan's kidnapping, his putting him in chains, is dictated by Sam's desire to get out of this tunnel and stop killing. Boom! Tension through the roof, curiosity through the roof, desire to move forward that I am not even going to point out here. An ethical dilemma will surely have clouded Alan's mind and, at the same time, ours. Would you help a serial killer stop killing? Not doing so would save your conscience but, probably, would cause more deaths. What to do then? Which of the 2 ethical violations to embrace? Help him or turn him in (assuming chained you can) / pretend to help him? I found it beautiful as a plot and found it a sort of variation on the theme from what Dexter started about 15 years ago (review of the reboot here). All very much in tone, all very intriguing. 20 minutes for 10 episodes equals 3 hours of our/your time. Are you sure you want to spend it elsewhere?
