Come di consueto oggi vi porto dentro una nuova Anteprima di un articolo che fra qualche giorno o settimana vedrete Nella Mente di un SerialFiller, il mio blog interamente incentrato sul mondo delle serie tv e di cui, da qualche mese, ho deciso di regalarvi costantemente, in anticipo su quello che pubblicherò, gran parte dei post che vedrete su www.serialfiller.org. Ancora uno spinoff, ancora una serie importante coinvolta... come sarà andata?

Chissà quali saranno state le domande che hanno frullato nella testa degli autori di How I Met Your Father quando un giorno, uno di loro, si è presentato alla macchina del caffè esclamando: "Che ne dite di uno spinoff di How I Met Your Mother dove questa volta sarà il padre ad essere l'oggetto misterioso dei racconti della futura Madre?". Gli astanti, mentre sorseggiavano un ginseng, devono aver risposto: "Figo. E come lo chiamiamo?". E lui/lei deve aver risposto: "Come sarebbe a dire? Ma davvero non ci arrivate? Lo chiamiamo How I Met Your Father". E tutti daccordo, felici e contenti, hanno terminato di sorseggiare il ginseng e sono andati su Google a cercare quali case di produzione contattare.

E cosi Hulu ha deciso di dare una chance a questa idea, intrigante e banalotta nello stesso tempo, idea che all'alba del 2022 ha partorito questo topolino che oggi mi accingo a commentare, brevemente perchè, ve lo dico subito, non c'è nulla di esaltante da raccontare e quindi, togliamoci il cerotto, parliamone, scriviamo bene la SEO e chi si è visto si è visto.

E bene si, alla fine quei sorseggiatori di ginseng sono riusciti a convincere Hulu a produrre uno spinoff della gloriosa e imperfetta How I Met Your Mother. Protagonisti Hilary Duff, nei panni della giovane e futura madre, ed un branco di attori noti e meno noti di cui non sentirete parlare nei prossimi decenni. Lo schema è lo stesso che abbiamo già visto in How I Met Your Mother. E qui c'è il primo e più grande problema. Nell'anno di grazia 2022, perchè mai dovrei accomodarmi in salotto per vedere qualcosa che è letteralmente uguale a qualcosa che ho già visto? Qualche pizzico di allegria me lo ha provocato lo show, qualche ventata di nostalgia pure, qualche minuscolo afflato di gioia anche ma, parliamoci chiaro, non sono queste le serie che voglio a catalogo, non sono quelle che voglio consigliare al "mio" pubblico, non sono quale per cui voglio perdere mezzora a scrivere e discuterne provando a convincere qualcuno che possa valerne la pena.

A poco è valso il coupè de theatre finale ed il link diretto con la serie madre. How I Met Your Father non doveva esistere. Non ce ne era il bisogno. Davvero volete restare ancora altri anni ad attendere che vi venga svelato chi sia il padre?

As usual today I bring you a new Preview of an article that in a few days or weeks you will see in the Mind of a SerialFiller, my blog entirely focused on the world of TV series and of which, for some months now, I have decided to give you constantly, in advance of what I will publish, most of the posts you will see on www.serialfiller.org. Another spinoff, another important series involved... how did it go?

Who knows what questions must have been going through the heads of the writers of How I Met Your Father when one of them stood at the coffee machine one day exclaiming: "How about a spinoff of How I Met Your Mother where this time the father will be the mysterious object of the future Mother's stories?". Bystanders, while sipping ginseng, must have responded: "Cool. And what shall we call him?" And he/she must have replied, "What do you mean? Do you guys really not get it? We're calling it How I Met Your Father." And they all agreed, happy and content, they finished sipping their ginseng and went on Google to look for which production companies to contact.

And so Hulu decided to give a chance to this idea, intriguing and trivial at the same time, an idea that at the dawn of 2022 gave birth to this mouse that today I am going to comment, briefly because, I tell you now, there is nothing exciting to tell and then, let's take off the band-aid, let's talk about it, let's write well the SEO and who has seen has seen.

And well yes, finally those ginseng sippers managed to convince Hulu to produce a spinoff of the gloriously flawed How I Met Your Mother. Starring Hilary Duff, as the young, soon-to-be mother, and a bunch of well-known and lesser-known actors you won't be hearing from for decades to come. The pattern is the same as we've already seen in How I Met Your Mother. And here's the first and biggest problem. In the year of grace 2022, why on earth would I sit in my living room to watch something that is literally the same as something I've already seen? The show caused me a little bit of joy, a little bit of nostalgia, a little bit of joy, but, let's be clear, these are not the series I want in my catalog, these are not the ones I want to recommend to "my" audience, these are not the ones I want to waste half an hour writing and discussing trying to convince someone that they are worth it.

The final coup de theatre and the direct link with the mother series was of little use. How I Met Your Father should not have existed. There was no need for it. Do you really want to stay another few years waiting to be revealed who is the father?
