Come di consueto oggi vi porto dentro una nuova Anteprima di un articolo che fra qualche giorno o settimana vedrete Nella Mente di un SerialFiller, il mio blog interamente incentrato sul mondo delle serie tv e di cui, da qualche mese, ho deciso di regalarvi costantemente, in anticipo su quello che pubblicherò, gran parte dei post che vedrete su www.serialfiller.org.
La quarta e la quinta puntata di The Boys non fanno prigionieri. Sono delle puntate intensissime che riescono ad arrivare a naturali punti di rottura in maniera perfetta. Brilla la sceneggiatura, brillano gli interpreti, brillano gli occhi dei fan della serie di Amazon Prime Video. La cruenza di questi episodi è come sempre fortissima ma forse mai come prima dietro le sequenze splatter più memorabili si nascondono delle scelte che potrebbero cambiare per sempre il corso della serie.
Ancora vivo, vittima di abusi, soprusi ed esperimenti lunghi anni, Soldier Boy è l'arma perfetta, l'unico uomo in grado di reggere il confronto con il personaggio interpretato da Anthony Starr e di fare piazza pulita delle sue follie. Ma come portare dalla propria parte un uomo che ha sterminato la famiglia di LM e che da sempre ha rappresentato il bersaglio perfetto per Butcher e compagnia? Il percorso che gli autori compiono per arrivare all'atto finale del quinto episodio è tanto lineare quanto inattaccabile. Si era partiti dall'introduzione del temporary V e dalla scelta rischiosa e controversa di Butcher di sperimentarlo su se stesso. Quella singola scelta ha fatto esplodere dilemmi etici e morali all'interno del gruppo e nell'animo di quasi tutti i personaggi coinvolti. Hughie è stato il primo a cogliere in fragrante Butcher ed il primo a sperimentare su se stesso quella potente arma. Quella scelta ha generato un dissidio in Hughie e nel suo rapporto con Starlight. Butcher era di fronte al dilemma etico sul se diventare proprio come quelli che combatteva da una vita. Hughie si è trovato a dover scegliere sul se essere finalmente in grado di combattere con le proprie mani coloro i quali aveva sempre dato la caccia. Nel farlo, però, avrebbe dovuto rinunciare alla sua amata Starlight.
Frenchie ha protetto Kimiko ma è caduto nelle grinfie di Nina. Hughie ha scelto Butcher e la strada della vendetta, perdendo Starlight. Starlight ha deciso di compromettersi con Homelander pur di non perdere Hughie e le persone care. A Train ha deciso di tradire tutti per ingraziarsi Patriota. Sempre A Train ha provato a riscattarsi al cospetto della sua comunità, generando ancora più terrore e diffidenza.

As usual, today I am bringing you in a new Preview of a post that in a few days or weeks you will see In the Mind of a SerialFiller, my blog entirely focused on the world of TV series and of which, for the past few months, I have decided to give you constantly, in advance of what I will publish, most of the posts you will see at www.serialfiller.org.
The fourth and fifth installments of The Boys take no prisoners. They are intense episodes that manage to get to natural breaking points perfectly. The script shines, the performers shine, the fans of the Amazon Prime Video series shine. The gore of these episodes is as strong as ever but perhaps never before behind the most memorable splatter sequences are choices that could change the course of the series forever. Homelander is out of control but the acceptance of his essence meant that he could definitely make that leap from being an invincible puppet in the hands of the Stan Edgars of this world to being the puppet master of a circus populated by billions of people. With Patriot pulling the reins of a crumbling chariot there remains one and only one solution to resolve the issue, and that is to try to kill him. But how can you kill a god? Is it even possible to do so? The search for the weapon that would have killed, decades earlier, Soldier Boy, leads, unexpectedly to Soldier Boy himself. Still alive, a victim of years-long abuse, abuse, and experimentation, Soldier Boy is the perfect weapon, the only man who can hold his own against the character played by Anthony Starr and clean up his follies. But how to bring to one's side a man who exterminated LM's family and has always been the perfect target for Butcher and company? The path the writers take to get to the final act of episode five is as straightforward as it is unassailable. It had started with the introduction of temporary V and Butcher's risky and controversial choice to experiment with it on himself. That single choice set off ethical and moral dilemmas within the group and in the souls of almost all the characters involved. Hughie was the first to catch Butcher in the act and the first to test that powerful weapon on himself. That choice generated dissension in Hughie and in his relationship with Starlight. Butcher was faced with the ethical dilemma of whether to become just like those he had been fighting all his life. Hughie was faced with a choice about whether to finally be able to fight with his own hands those whom he had always hunted. In doing so, however, he would have to give up his beloved Starlight. Starlight who in the meantime had to compromise with a Homelander as ruthless as ever, posing as the latter's fiancée precisely so as not to put Hughie's life at risk as Supersonic had done. A jumble of choices, of suffering, of impossible forks in the face of which each had to close his eyes, sacrifice something and make an impossible choice. Butcher betrayed LM twice. LM abandoned his daughter again. Frenchie protected Kimiko but fell into Nina's clutches. Hughie chose Butcher and the path of revenge, losing Starlight. Starlight decided to compromise with Homelander in order not to lose Hughie and loved ones. A Train decided to betray everyone to ingratiate himself with Patriot. Again A Train tried to redeem himself before his community, generating even more terror and distrust. Edgar lost the greatest certainty. Everyone has lost something. Now it is war. Everyone against everyone. Everyone with their own demons. Everyone with their own turncoats. It will be total clash. And we like assholes stood by and watched. Smug. Admired. Fulfilled.
