In the era of the great blockbusters and cinecomics, incredible things happen that, on reflection, seem more absurd than anything else.
If, to tell the truth, Marvel has done a praiseworthy job of planning and making its products with a solid and linear design of its films, the same cannot be said for the DC Comics cinecomics that have always appeared frayed and without criteria.
It was therefore a great surprise to read hyperpositive comments and learn about the stellar takings of a film like Aquaman, a DC submarine hero not exactly among the most beloved, but it seems to have made a breakthrough in its cinematic version.
To give an idea of the film's success, we're talking about receipts well over a billion dollars, which incinerated Christopher Nolan's DC masterpiece The Dark Knight.
With this premise seeing the film was an obligation for any enthusiast and expectations had become very high.
At the end of the screening, 3 letters and a word, if we can talk about words, are enough to summarize the film:
Bah!
Eh yes because Aquaman seems to be a bad film, a film that I would never dream of recommending and that would never, ever deserve that success.
It's difficult to understand how this film can be better than others, even if mediocre but with their own style and identity.
The hero played by Jason Momoa doesn't excel in sympathy, even though he's a Gascon at times sympathetic, he never transfers that sense of epic that one would expect and he's not the protagonist of a story of origins particularly distant from the classic topoi of the genre.
Aquaman is a superhuman with superpowers who experiences a trauma as a child, will be called to fulfill his destiny, will face him after the usual initial reticence and will bring him to completion.
Period.
Brilliant dialogues are not to be reported.
We don't remember cult phrases.
No exhilarating music.
Standard acting for this kind of film.
Action absolutely within the canons of what we've seen over the years.
Nothing to report in short.
A very normal film, to be robbed as forgettable and which adds nothing to the superheroistic filmography of these years.
For a film that has grossed 1.13 billion in the world, very little.
A film that makes water everywhere...
Nell'epoca dei grandi blockbuster e dei cinecomic accadono cose incredibili che a ben riflettere paiono più che altro assurde.
Se, ad onore del vero, la Marvel ha fatto un lavoro di pianificazione e realizzazione dei propri prodotti encomiabile con una progettazione solida e lineare dei suoi film, lo stesso non si può dire per i cinecomic della DC Comics da sempre apparsi sfilacciati e senza criterio.
E' stata dunque una grandissima sorpresa leggere commenti iperpositivi e apprendere degli incassi stellari di una pellicola come Aquaman, eroe DC sottomarino non esattamente tra i più amati che però sembra aver fatto breccia nella sua versione cinematografica.
Per dare un'idea del successo del film parliamo di incassi ben oltre il miliardo di dollari, che hanno incenerito quel capolavoro DC di Christopher Nolan come il Cavaliere Oscuro.
Con queste premesse vedere il film era un obbligo per qualsiasi appassionato e le aspettative da nulle erano divenute altissime.
A visione ultimata bastano 3 lettere ed una parola, se di parola possiamo parlare, per riassumere il film:
Bah!
Eh si perchè Aquaman sembra essere un filmaccio, un film che mai mi sognerei di consigliare e che mai e poi mai meriterebbe quel successo.
Inquadrato poi nel filone dei film DC è difficile capire come questa pellicola possa risultare migliori di altre, seppur mediocri ma che avevano un loro stile ed una loro identità.
L'eroe interpretato da Jason Momoa non eccelle in simpatia, pur essendo un guascone a tratti simpatico, non trasferisce mai quel senso di epicità che ci si attenderebbe e non è protagonista di una storia di origini particolarmente distante dai topoi classici del genere.
Aquaman è un superuomo dotato di superpoteri che vive un trauma da bambino, verrà chiamato a compiere il suo destino, lo affronterà dopo le solite reticenze iniziali e lo porterà a compimento.
Punto.
Non sono da segnalarsi dialoghi brillanti.
Non ricordiamo frasi cult.
Nessuna musica esaltante.
Recitazioni standard per questo tipo di film.
Azione assolutamente nei canoni di quanto abbiamo visto in questi anni.
Nulla da segnalare insomma.
Un film normalissimo, da derubricare come dimenticabile e che nulla aggiunge alla filmografia supereroistica di questi anni.
Per un film che ha incassato 1,13 miliardi nel mondo decisamente poco.
Un film che fa acqua da tutte le parti insomma...
