Homeland continues its inexorable descent towards the epilogue and does so accelerating, with a series of frenetic and in their own way unforgettable episodes. Unforgettable because they give us the impression that when it's over we'll miss Homeland very much. They make us understand how much it is a TV series that in 8 years has been able to give adrenalinic moments combined with a skillful construction of stories and characters. They make us understand how Carrie and Saul have become part of our serial collective imagination. The central episodes of the final season were able to build a tension never reached before by the series probably thanks to a crescendo of tension that led us to discover that the most atrocious thing we could imagine had really happened. But it's the doubt that Homeland manages to raise as a maximum figure of what the viewer awaits, reads, analyzes. The doubt that behind the events is hidden something different from what we could imagine. The doubt that the fall of a helicopter may be due to a simple failure and not to an attack. The doubt that sometimes it is the interest of one to determine the ruin of many. The doubt that there is always time to try to fix things. The doubt that the sacrifice of the individual is worth much, much for the collective good.
And so we are on our way to a roaring, crackling, melancholy series finale that will leave its mark, like a bomb dropped from above.
Homeland continua la sua inesorabile discesa verso l'epilogo e lo fa accelerando, con una serie di episodi frenetici e a loro modo indimenticabili. Indimenticabili perchè ci danno l'impressione che quando sarà finita Homeland ci mancherà tantissimo. Ci fanno capire quanto sia una serie tv che in 8 anni abbia saputo regalare momenti adrenalinici uniti ad un abile costruzione di storie e personaggi. Ci fanno capire quanto Carrie e Saul siano entrati a far parte del nostro immaginario collettivo seriale. Gli episodi centrali della stagione finale sono stati capaci di costruire una tensione mai raggiunta prima dalla serie probabilmente grazie ad un crescendo di tensione appunto che ci ha portato a scoprire che la cosa più atroce che potevamo immaginare fosse realmente successa. Ma è il dubbio che Homeland riesce ad elevare come massima cifra di quello che lo spettatore attende, legge, analizza. Il dubbio che dietro gli eventi si nasconda qualcosa di diverso da quello che si potrebbe immaginare. Il dubbio che la caduta di un elicottero possa essere dovuta ad un semplice guasto e non ad un attentato. Il dubbio che a volte sia l'interesse di uno a determinare la rovina di molti. Il dubbio che ci sia sempre tempo per provare a sistemare le cose. Il dubbio che il sacrificio del singolo valga molto, moltissimo per il bene collettivo.
Ci avviamo cosi ad un finale di serie roboante, scoppiettante e malinconico che lascerà il segno, come una bomba caduta dall'alto.
