Il 2020 è stato una piacevole eccezione rispetto agli ultimi anni un pò fiacchi per FX.

L'anno è iniziato con quella che sarebbe rimasta una delle migliori novità del 2020 (o forse addirittura LA migliore). Devs è l'intimissimo drama fantascientifico portato sullo schermo dal genio di Alex Garland e, pur restando un fenomeno di nicchia, ha rappresentato una delle vette di quest'annata.

Ma, fortunatamente per FX, non è stato il solo fenomeno degli ultimi 12 mesi.

Pochissimo dopo l'uscita di Devs è arrivato un prodotto che, a differenza del primo, era molto atteso.

Vuoi per l'esordio seriale di una delle più straordinarie attrici della sua generazione, vuoi per la vicenda storica trattata, vuoi per il tema di fondo che veniva messo in campo.

Mrs America è lo story drama di FX con protagonista Cate Blanchett (doppio premio Oscar come migliore attrice) ambientato negli anni '70 e riferito agli eventi e le dinamiche intorno al movimento politico denominato ERA (Equal Rights Amendement).

Nonostante l'ambientazione sia riferita a mezzo secolo fa, la serie tv è estremamente attuale grazie (o meglio purtroppo) al fatto che quelle battaglie, pur con passi avanti notevoli svolti negli ultimi decenni, siano ancora molto attuali.

2020 was a pleasant exception to the last few somewhat sluggish years for FX.

The year began with what would remain one of the best new shows of 2020 (or maybe even THE best). Devs is the intimate sci-fi drama brought to the screen by the genius of Alex Garland and, while still a niche phenomenon, it was one of the highlights of this year.

But, fortunately for FX, it wasn't the only phenomenon of the past 12 months.

Very shortly after the release of Devs came a product that, unlike the first, was highly anticipated.

Either for the serial debut of one of the most extraordinary actresses of her generation, or for the historical event treated, or for the underlying theme that was put into play.
