Sometimes they come back. That goes without saying. Amazon and CBS All Access have dusted off one of the most famous and important figures from the Star Trek franchise. Admiral Picard returned to the screens at dawn 2020 with a TV series completely focused on him and his adventures. Needless to say, these operations are risky. On the one hand the feeling is that you want to invest in the notoriety of a franchise and a character more than telling a good story. On the other hand, you risk falling into a laziness in the script dictated by the lack of originality inherent in telling an "old" story. Finally the looming danger of not respecting that specific character and his past story.
Judging from the Star Trek pilot: Picard all this has been avoided. Luckily for us Alex Kurtzman and companions were able to dodge the bullets of boredom and laziness, building a series respectful of the past but equally projected into the future. The productive effort, then, immediately seemed to be of the remarkable kind. It's certainly nothing new today in 2020, but it's always nice to see how the visual effects are of the highest level. The other merit lies in not having wanted to "rejuvenate" Picard and consequently Patrick Stewart. So it's a great trick to show us a Picard actually aged and retired but with the echo of the best days, of the days lived among the stars, always in the mind. It will be the arrival of Dahj, a young woman with a mysterious story to awaken in Picard the desire to get back on track and look for new answers in the galaxy. Intriguing incipit, story with the right amount of mystery, excellent protagonist, amazing special effects. The beginning is the right one, we just have to continue watching and wish this TV series long life and prosperity.

A volte ritornano. E' proprio il caso di dirlo. Amazon e CBS All Access hanno rispolverato dal franchise di Star Trek una delle figure più note ed importanti. L'ammiraglio Picard è tornato sugli schermi all'alba del 2020 con una serie tv completamente incentrata su di lui e le sue avventure. Inutile sottolineare quanto queste operazioni siano rischiose. Da un lato la sensazione è che si voglia investire sulla notorietà di un franchise e di un personaggio più che raccontare una bella storia. Dall'altra si rischia di cadere in una pigrizia nella sceneggiatura dettata dalla scarsa originalità insita nel racconto di una storia "vecchia". Infine il pericolo incombente di non rispettare quello specifico personaggio e la sua storia pregressa.

Sarà l'arrivo di Dahj, una giovane dalla storia misteriosa a risvegliare in Picard la voglia di rimettersi in pista e cercare ancora nuove risposte nella galassia.
