In general astonishment last year, despite fierce competition, The Kominsky Method had managed to win the coveted statuette of best comedy at the Golden Globe. Not at all obvious, considering that the other four TV series named were Barry, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, Kidding, The Good Place. We are talking about 4 products that within a few seasons have managed to write the history of comedy on television. This aspect is not to be overlooked. Winning such an important prize against 4 such opponents is in itself a manifesto of how much the Chuck Lorre series has been able to excite and impress since the first episodes.
Despite an exceptional cast that can boast 2 sacred monsters like Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin as protagonists, and despite a creator like Chuck Lorre, and despite having been Netflix to launch idea and production, despite all this The Kominsky Method was not preceded by much advertising, he had created a lot of waiting.
But quality pays off. Time is a gentleman when a product has a lot to offer.

Nello stupore generale l'anno scorso, nonostante una concorrenza agguerritissima, The Kominsky Method era riuscito a vincere l'ambita statuetta di miglior comedy al Golden Globe. Riconoscimento per nulla scontato, considerando che le altre 4 serie tv nominate erano Barry, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, Kidding, The Good Place. Parliamo di 4 prodotti che nel giro di pochissime stagioni sono riuscite a scrivere la storia della comedy in televisione. Questo aspetto non è da trascurare. Vincere un premio cosi importante contro 4 avversari di questo tipo è di per se un manifesto di quanto la serie di Chuck Lorre sia stata capace di emozionare ed impressionare sin dai primi episodi.
Nonostante un cast eccezionale che può vantare 2 mostri sacri come Michael Douglas ed Alan Arkin come protagonisti, e nonostante un creatore come Chuck Lorre, e nonostante sia stata Netflix a lanciare idea e produzione, nonostante tutto questo The Kominsky Method non era stata preceduta da molta pubblicità, ne aveva creata molta attesa.
Ma la qualità paga. Il tempo è galantuomo quando un prodotto ha molto da offire.
E' il caso di The Kominsky Method.

The disruptive force of the Lorre series was immediately irony, the subtle and sometimes macabre irony of its elderly protagonists. Norman and Sandy are two old friends who have come to the twilight of their lives. Although completely opposite in character and temper, both hide a boundless desire to live, which would make young people of any social background and nationality jealous. The mourning that strikes Norman leads the two to share and almost live together for what remains of their earthly existence. Their relationship is equal and very particular. They are 2 non-conformists, very grown up and unconventional boys who make a mockery of the pre-established rules that dominate contemporary society. By now over the age of 70 they will not lose the desire to love and to get involved, to risk and to walk on hot coals. One draws strength from the other, creating a fun, inconclusive and exciting couple. And it is precisely in this last adjective where, probably, The Kominsky Method succeeds in elevating itself, passing from excellent series to TV series not to be missed. When a TV series manages to make you smile but also to get you excited, to move and reflect then it means that that series is mature, is able to read something from the world and offer its own vision of things. Positive, optimistic but also nihilistic and in a certain sense self-destructive vision if we look at what the series of Lorre pushes on the key of the responsibility that each of us has in self-determination and in reaching, or at least researching, our own happiness.
It is a series about being human, about his fears that are amplified at a certain age and about the joys to always look for, even when aches, aches and time do not leave too much space to be optimistic.
Ad ottobre è arrivata la nuova stagione della serie tv e se possibile è riuscita ad andare ancora oltre le aspettative di ognuno di noi.
La forza dirompente della serie di Lorre è stata da subito l'ironia, l'ironia sottile e a volte macabra dei suoi anziani protagonisti. Norman e Sandy sono 2 vecchi amici oramai giunti al crepuscolo delle loro vite. Seppur di carattere e tempra completamente opposti, entrambi nascondono una voglia di vivere smisurata, che farebbe invidia a giovani di qualsiasi estrazione sociale e nazionalità. Il lutto che colpisce Norman spinge i 2 a condividere e quasi a convivere per quel che resta della loro esistenza terrena. E' un rapporto paritario il loro e molto particolare. Sono 2 anticonformisti, ragazzi molto cresciuti e anticonvenzionali che si fanno beffe delle regole prestabilite che dominano la società contemporanea. Oramai oltre i 70 anni non perderanno la voglia di amare e di mettersi in gioco, di rischiare e di camminare sui carboni ardenti. L'uno trae forza dall'altro creando una coppia divertente, sconclusionata ed emozionante. Ed è proprio in quest'ultimo aggettivo dove, probabilmente, The Kominsky Method riesce ad elevarsi, passando da ottima serie a serie tv da non perdere. Quando una serie tv riesce a farti sorridere ma anche a farti emozionare, commuovere e riflettere allora vuol dire che quella serie è matura, è capace di leggere qualcosa dal mondo e di offrire una propria visione delle cose. Visione positiva, ottimistica ma anche nichilista ed in un certo senso autodistruttiva se guardiamo a quanto la serie di Lorre spinga sul tasto della responsabilità che ognuno di noi ha nell'autodeterminarsi e nel raggiungere, o quantomeno ricercare, la propria felicità.
E' una serie sull'essere umano, sulle sue paure che si amplificano ad una certa età e sulle gioie da cercare sempre, anche quando acciacchi, malanni e tempo non lasciano troppo spazio per essere ottimisti.
