After a convincing debut from every point of view, watchmen returns with a second episode, which if possible convinces even more.
The mixture between the cartoon world continues to be effective, from which the series takes inspiration and a brand new universe born from the brilliant mind of Lindelof.
The second episode is pure Damon Lindelof.
A story on more than one level that manages to surprise and make us think, to move away from the narration and then come back forcefully with effective scenes of action and plot evolution and characters.
The use of flashbacks, highly acclaimed in Lost, returns here predominant and is very functional both to the plot and to the knowledge of the past, of the characters' past.
Lindelof is very good at planting clues and making references during the episodes, increasing the viewer's curiosity. Then comes a point of unveiling of some of those breadcrumbs that leave the spectator satisfied but at the same time even more curious about the future.
This is the case, for example, of the so-called "White Night", mentioned several times in the first episode and which is revealed here in all its cruelty.

Continua ad essere efficace la commistione fra universo fumettologico da cui la serie prende ispirazione e universo nuovo di zecca partorito dalla mente geniale di Lindelof.
Il secondo episodio è Damon Lindelof allo stato puro.
Un racconto su più livelli che riesce a sorprendere e far riflettere, ad allontanarsi dalla narrazione per poi ritornarci prepotentemente con scene efficaci di azione ed evoluzione di trama e personaggi.
L'uso del flashback, osannatissimo in Lost, qui torna preponderante ed è molto funzionale sia alla trama che alla conoscenza del vissuto, del passato dei personaggi.
Lindelof è bravissimo a seminare indizi e lanciare riferimenti durante le puntate, accrescendo la curiosità dello spettatore. Arriva poi un punto di svelamento di alcune di quelle briciole di pane che lascia lo spettatore appagato ma contemporaneamente ancora più incuriosito per il futuro.
E' il caso ad esempio della cosidetta "Notte Bianca", nominata più volte nel primo episodio e che qui ci viene svelata in tutta la sua crudeltà.

L'evento ci viene narrato attraverso gli occhi e le parole di Judd e Angela, riversa priva di forze su un letto d'ospedale in seguito ad uno dei 40 attacchi simultanei avvenuti nella notte di Natale ai danni di poliziotti da parte della cosidetta "Cavalleria". Il flashback ha una doppia funzione. CI racconta cosa sia avvenuto quella notte e ci porta alla nascita della bellissima amicizia fra i 2.
In un colpo solo abbiamo evidenza di un evento importante dell'universo raccontato da Lindelof e riusciamo a percepire fortemente il lutto grandissimo che colpisce sorella Notte.
La serie è costellata di questi momenti chiave che come avveniva in Lost permettono alla serie di autoalimentarsi continuamente, riempendo misteri precedentemente creati e aggiungendone altri.
Altri come quello legato al vecchio in carrozzina che avevamo intravisto nel primo episodio.
Il duplice cliffangher finale è un ennesimo colpo da maestro per una serie che rischia fortemente di diventare un cult assoluto nella storia della serialità.
