The most identifiable dimension of the 2 series was that of having managed to overturn the point of view of the predecessors and the whole spy genre up to that moment. The villains of the classic spy (Russians and Arabs in this case) had suddenly become enemies with points of view to analyze, listen and even understand to embrace. A sensational upheaval that both series, with very different styles have managed to carry on with class and consistency. 2 years ago THE AMERICANS closed its run with an unforgettable final season. It was one of the most beautiful and underrated series ever. Homeland closed its race last week. It did so with an equally unforgettable final season. We're going to regret it. We will regret it even more because we are aware that there is no heir or travelling companion on the square at the moment. The genre that Homeland and The Americans have cultivated and brought to the limelight is now an orphan of a TV series capable of taking the baton and perhaps innovating it. Is it just a physiological problem or will the sun shine again for the spy stories?

Ha fatto scuola circa 15 anni fa. Durate nel tempo e con grande successo di pubblico e critica. Potevamo considerarle, seppur diversamente delle serie tv "spy". Alias purissimo spy. 24 un po meno. Di certo però avevamo a che fare con dei superagenti sottocopertura pronti ad affrontare qualsiasi pericolo pur di salvare gli stati uniti d'america. Sull'onda di quei 2 grandi successi sono nate 2 serie tv molto più # complesse, molto più innovative e diciamocele molto molto più belle.

HOMELAND
La dimensione più identitaria delle 2 serie era quella di essere riuscite a capovolgere il punto di vista dei predecessori e di tutto il genere spy fino a quel momento. I villain delle spy classiche (russi e arabi nella fattinspecie) erano diventati improvvisamente dei nemici con dei punti di vista da analizzare, ascoltare e addirittura comprendere fino ad abbracciare. Uno sconvolgimento clamoroso che entrambe le serie, con stili molto diversi tra loro sono riuscite a portare avanti con classe e coerenza. 2 anni fa THE AMERICANS ha chiuso la sua corsa con una stagione finale indimenticabile. E' stata una delle serie più belle e sottovalutate di sempre. Homeland ha chiuso la sua corsa settimana scorsa. Lo ha fatto con una stagione finale altrettanto indimenticabile. La rimpiangeremo. La rimpiangeremo ancora di più perchè siamo consapevoli che al momento non esiste su piazza un erede o un compagno di viaggio. Il genere che Homeland e The Americans hanno coltivato e portato alla ribalta è oggi orfano di una serie tv capace di raccogliere il testimone e magari innovarlo. E' solo un problema fisiologico o tornerà a splendere il sole per le spy story?
