The triptych of Italian series called to make the leap of quality to the Italian productions has taken the field fully. After the incredible successes of The New Pope and L'amica Geniale there was a lot of waiting for ZeroZeroZero to land on TV. The TV series based on Roberto Saviano's book proposed itself to the international audience as a gigantic and ambitious project. Enormous geopolitical scope. Locations located between Mexico, Italy and the United States. A very wide range of topics to be told. Enormous forces at stake. Enormous are the productive efforts that reach Amazon Studios. International cast and directing booth to what is by now an Italian director established all over the world: Stefano Sollima. A name that says a lot for us but that abroad they have learned to know and appreciate only with "Soldado". The vision of the first 2 episodes shows how much ZeroZeroZero draws from Gomorrah and Soldado, to the point of resembling both. Such a striking resemblance to create a dangerous dejavu effect. Sollima's skill was to stop a moment before being a copy of himself, succeeding in widening the story and shaping it according to what Saviano tells in his book. Of the 3 Italian series mentioned above, ZeroZeroZero is certainly the weakest and most disappointing. It is in spite of being an excellent series, from 9 in the report card. It is because it lacks originality, being very similar to Gomorrah and Soldado and winking at Narcos in some cases. But it is especially so because it can not detach itself from a fairly sterile and fictionalized story that can not deepen and analyze what is told. The rest of the season will tell us if ZeroZeroZero will succeed in being deep and intense as well as well realized and well shot.
Il trittico di serie italiane chiamate a far fare il salto di qualità alle produzioni italiche è sceso in campo al completo. Dopo i successi incredibili di The New Pope e L'amica Geniale c'era molta attesa per l'approdo in tv di ZeroZeroZero. La serie tv tratta dal libro di Roberto Saviano si proponeva al pubblico internazionale come un progetto gigantesco ed ambizioso. Enorme la portata geopolitica. Location dislocate fra Messico, Italia e Stati Uniti. Molto ampio il respiro che si getta su quanto si vorrebbe raccontare. Enormi le forze in gioco. Enormi gli sforzi produttivi che arrivano sino agli Amazon Studios. Cast internazionale e cabina di regia a quello che oramai è un regista italiano affermato in tutto il mondo: Stefano Sollima. Un nome che per noi dice tantissimo ma che all'estero hanno imparato a conoscere e apprezzare solo con "Soldado". La visione dei primi 2 episodi rende palese quanto ZeroZeroZero attinga da Gomorra e da Soldado, fino ad assomigliare tantissimo ad entrambe. Una somiglianza talmente clamorosa da creare un pericoloso effetto dejavu. La bravura di Sollima è stata quella di fermarsi un attimo prima di essere la copia di se stesso, riuscendo ad allargare il racconto e plasmarlo secondo quanto raccontato da Saviano nel suo libro. Delle 3 serie italiane citate in precedenza, ZeroZeroZero è sicuramente la più debole e deludente. Lo è nonostante sia una serie eccellente, da 9 in pagella. Lo è perchè pecca di originalità, risultando molto simile a Gomorra e Soldado e strizzando l'occhio a Narcos in alcuni frangenti. Ma lo è sopratutto perchè non riesce a distaccarsi da un racconto abbastanza sterile e romanzato che non riesce ad approfondire ed analizzare quanto narrato. Il resto della stagione ci dirà se ZeroZeroZero riuscirà ad essere profonda ed intensa oltreche ben realizzata e ottimamente girata.
