Zitti e buoni adesso

Review by @serialfiller · 2037d · of Zitti e buoni

Ode a loro e arrivederci all'anno prossimo.

image.png In the end Maneskin won. They were the favorites but they were, at the same time, also the ones who should never have won and could never have won. They brought rock to Sanremo, the hard and pure one, and they did it both with the winning song and with the cover of "Amandoti" extraordinarily arranged together with Manuel Agnelli of Afterhours. Maneskin's victory, no matter what you think, was a moment of extraordinary revolution for Sanremo and for Italian music. Young, aggressive, free. You may not like Maneskin, and until I listened to them on stage at the Ariston on the night of the covers, I was never crazy about them, but they are undoubtedly a breath of fresh air that sweeps away the Amoroso and Fedez of this world. The Maneskin, and Amadeus who believed in them, are the demonstration that you don't need to be a rapper, trapper, hippopper, youtuber, tiktokker to be good and successful. On the contrary, the feeling is that as soon as Maneskin will be removed from the aftermath of the talent and the unsolicited advice of those who would like them to be softer and more targeted towards the general public, then maybe we can have back among us an Italian rock of the highest level. And it was a "fake rapper" like Willy Peyote who gave the final blow to the fake world of fake artists with likes and visualizations thanks to his song "mai dire mai" (never say never) that hit the mark in this era of changes and pre-packaged products ranging from music to seriality, passing through fashion and cinematography. Musically, it was a very forgettable Sanremo. The artists seemed dull and the songs were dull. There have been some exceptions and they have always been in the name of innovation, light-heartedness and rhythm. Think of Lo Stato Sociale or Colapesce and Di Martino, Toffolo or Comacose, Madame or La Rappresentante di Lista. Semi-unknowns who brought a bit of liveliness and fun. It was a very bad festival but given the circumstances I'm afraid we couldn't do any better. So thanks and applause to Fiorello and Amadeus who, despite the covid and the absence of audience, managed to make us unplug for a few days. Ode to them and see you next year. In the meantime "su le Maneskin" and quiet and good
