The movie starts with the main character and our aging hero Burt Munro living alone and little by little modifying his bike to make it faster and more powerful. Burt Munro had a 42 year old Indian Scout 45 bike, and Burt Munro modified that old bike to become the fastest bike in New Zealand and Australia. But Burt Munro's dream is to participate in Speed Week in America's Lobben and set a new world record by telling everyone about his bike's top speed.
When such a dream would not let Burt Munro sleep properly, he would start fixing his bike. As a result, he had to listen to his neighbors at various times as he would often lose sleep. On the other hand, it is seen at Burt Munro's birthday party that his friends help him financially to fulfill their friend Burt Munro's dream. While having fun on the mat, some young bike racers take their expensive bikes to their mats and make fun of Burt Munro's bike.
As a result, the next day Burt Munro took part in a bike race with the youth, and despite being ahead of Saber in the early stages, Burt Munro lapsed and lost the race. Then while returning home, his girlfriend gave him some money to go to America to fulfill his dream. Within a few days, Burt Munro prepared everything and left for America and on reaching America he had to go through various adventures.
Burt Munro was happy to reach his dream destination and was introduced to another competitor, Jim Moffet. At first Burt Munro was not allowed to participate in the race because he did not know the rules of participation in the race, but with the help of Jim Moffet, he was allowed to participate. However, Burt Munro's bike was dangerously unfit for competition after going to check the bike before participating.
But Burt Munro rode his bike there without telling anyone and the organizers allowed him to ride the bike after seeing his passion and love for riding. Everyone was happy to see Burt Munro's speed on the bike and allowed him to participate in the final race. He was also named Sports Man of the Year and the competition saw Burt Munro make his dream come true by setting the world record for the fastest speed on his bike.
