Spider-Man: Brand New Day totally gave me a different perspective of Peter Parker and that is the main point of the movie I think, giving the audience and the fans the opportunity to have that side of Spider-Man as the lovable neighbour rather than the image of just another member of the Avengers. From all the movies I think its the first time Peter try to live as Spider-Man all the time because being Peter just hurts too much for everything he has lost and all in the name of doing things right and protecto those close to him. He is watching Ned and MJ from a distance the whole movie, still holding onto pieces of that old life and he has convinced himself that staying away from them is the best way to keep them safe. I really like that Peter is not present as the guy that made the biggest sacrifice of his life, the movie give us a Peter that feels hurt and miserable that alone means a lot but at the same time a Spider-Man that represents love for the people that he saves every day in New York City and is afraid with the increasing of this new power that at the beginning he can't understand. Being lonely could have been a lazy excuse to hand him new powers but it works here because the physical change is tied to a choice he has been making for years, he is not losing himself because some villain stole his personality, he is doing it to himself because being Spider-Man feels safer than letting people get close. Tom Holland as Spider-Man in this movie was test, why? because he is no longer support by others heroes as in the previous movies, this time was only him proving that he can carry with Peter and all his personal shit but also as the hero, Spider-Man, who received a wave of events that include tanks, Scorpion, Hulk, Damage Control, Jean Grey and his good not so good relationship with Punisher that by the way is my favourite part of this movie.

MJ, Ned and Jean Grey Keep Peter From Staying Alone

The supporting cast fit really well, people probably thought that something could be wrong but instead I believe it work perfectly obviously making Peter and Spider-Man shine. [MJ](https://marvelcinematicuniverse.fandom.com/wiki/Michelle_Jones) and [Ned](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt22084616/characters/nm8188622/) were needed, why? it is obvious, Peter still wants them in his life but the movie refused to make it easy for him, he made a decision and now he still carrying with the consequences after 4 year. A very exciting moment is when MJ finally read the letter that Peter wrote for her, damn, I was ready to get mad AF if by the letter she remember everything, but she didnt just as I expected because it would be too cliche honestly, the movie gave us what we wanted, an MJ that understand exactly what he gave up but still tells him straight up that she doesn't remember anything of that and the person who loved him is gone, that really hurts but was necessary, it will be cheap if she just says I love you!, thanks God it didn't happen. Ned is something totally different, he's still a Spider-Man fan so that was the way Peter begin a relationship with Ned, in a more easy rhythm and almost at the end with the handshake, that can make us think that he finally remember Peter and even though all those years their friendship survived. With [Jean Grey](https://www.marvel.com/characters/phoenix-jean-grey) is more chaotic, she was presented as the threat for Spider-Man and way more for Peter Parker, but they were connected in different way, Jean knows how it feels to be alone because her only family that was her sister Sara was dead and for Peter he also lose his aunt May and chose the lose his friends, being alone give her and Peter a real connection even though they are angry for completely different reasons. Jean try deeply to get inside Peter's head but she only could do it when he allowed her to, in that moment Peter shows her a memory of May telling him that being different does not mean he has to live alone. I like because that really reach to Jean made understand that she can be part of something or someone instead of hiding behind her powers and for Peter behind his mask. Punisher and Spider-Man Grow Through Their Conflict

[Punisher](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt22084616/characters/nm1256532/) is probably the best example of why this cast actually works for me because Frank Castle is not just there to be the crazy guy shooting to everything and everyone. Peter and Frank argue almost all the time and try to work together throughout but they have completely ideas about what protecting really means. During the movie Peter tries to teach Frank that is not necessary the use of a gun in every problem, that it could get innocent people hurt but Frank believe that Peter is too soft on people who are actually in danger, he doesn't understand why Peter always try to look the good on people without thinking that many of that people are dangerous. Even though their constant back and forth their relationship seems to be more friendly for two guys who constantly disagree and the movie will lead to a serious consequence that will effect both of them. Frank is desperate, trying to fix what Jean Grey has causes to the people in New York he decided to takes a shot meant for Jean but Peter jumps in front of Jean and is the one who received it, in that moment Frank realize that all that talk wasn't bullshit and he has hurt someone who actually cares, he though that with that shot he will be solving a problem but instead he hurt Peter and that get deep inside of him more than all the speech's by the spider. Frank carrying Peter for help afterward and apologizing fill up he scene pretty well because the movie actually makes him face what he did instead of letting him act like he was right the whole time. After all this tragic events Peter never turn into Frank, he realizes that a genuine friendship has blossomed as well as his new powers but it doesn't mean that everything was perfect because Peter went through moments where thanks to his new abilities he gets angrier making him dangerous and with the possibility of hurting people. At the end he has to control himself and don't lose himself in the process, with all this Frank was a key for Peter and vice versa because both of them grew as induvial and more importantly as friends, something I really enjoy the chemistry between them. Jean Grey Mirrors Peter's Fear of His Own Powers

Jean Grey could have easily taken over this movie too but her connection to Peter keeps most of her material where it needs to be. She is totally in search for the truth about her sister Sara and that give her anger an actual reason to act in the way she does and finding out [Damage Control](https://marvelcinematicuniverse.fandom.com/wiki/United_States_Department_of_Damage_Control) experimented on her sister make it easy to understand she does not trust anyone trying to control her powers. It doesn't mean that Jean has a good soul, during the movie we can see that she takes control of people, uses MJ against Peter and eventually her powers evolve in a way that she is capable of freezes people across the entire city, in some way you can think, well, if she is a victim or a villain, and for her actions that's why Peter can't decide how he will judge her. At the same time he is passing through a similar situation with himself, all his body is in constant changing, he needs to builds an inhibitor because he is scared of what those changes could do and eventually he has to figure out if controlling the spider part of himself is actually the same thing as controlling who he really is. The movie gets pretty busy once the inhibitor, Damage Control, Hulk, the Hand, and Jean are all happening at once, Peter trying to stop someone from hurting people while he is also realizing his fear of his own powers that are pushing him to suppress them. At the end he has to make a decision and decided to pull the inhibitor off, he now accepts that he is both Peter and Spider-Man and that is the point where everything is worth it, now he just accepts that he doesn't needs to pick only one side of his life instead he must take responsibility of the entire package.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Feels Like Peter's Next Chapter

Well this movie was a pleasure to watch with everything going on at once, not going to say its the best ever super hero movie but personally the best Spider-Man movie, although was not a pleasure to watch at the movies because it was not confy enough, buckets were too short for me. I really like Spider-Man: Brand New Day, specially with all the characters work in a way that all feel so easy to enjoy, probably what made [Avengers: Endgame](https://www.marvel.com/movies/avengers-endgame) a great movie too. They way that Peter is reconnecting to his old life but in a way that he must work for it, letting him confirmed that everything has change. Ned is not longer his best friend, at the end with the handshake it gives us hope and also him to believe that the door is open for Ned to remember Peter and for Peter to reunite with his best friend, with MJ was different and probably happens in the best way possible, she doesn't remember him, doesn't know who is Peter and she is no longer her girlfriend, it make Peter finally accepts that the woman he loves is gone and he must move on, but if you are a Marvel fan this really really lands in Gamora territory to be honest so is this really original material for some fans??!!! hhhmmm not sure. In the other hand with Frank the things get stronger, Peter created a new friend in his life, Frank did apologized with Peter for shooting him, thats hilarious he had to shoot him, but it doesn't mean that he changed who he is, he will continue being the Punisher and Jean Grey passed of being a totally menace for an entire city to be the responsible for keep Peter alive, at the end she understand that she is not a bad person, that she will carry with her the pain for having lost her sister but even tough from her pain, she can be someone that connect and trust in others. Spider-Man: Brand New Day show us layers that are well connected that it didnt on other movies, probably this is the one that doesnt make Peter look like a silly teenager with powers anymore and really makes the character grow. Peter keeping in his mind his past life while Spider-Man fight against different villain in a big city that has accept him. I really enjoy how this movie was never about a specific villian, and the ONE ends up been a good person after all, the movie made us believe that Jean Grey is the main villain here but Damage Control is the real menace and Peter at the end realize who must be help. The fight with [Hulk](https://www.marvel.com/characters/hulk-bruce-banner), I feel that could be longer but at the end the point was to bring back Hulk to the big screen and was amazing, when I say bring back Hulk I meant GREEN HULK not boring all jokes Hulk, at the end no one know where Banner was taken, I hope that in the future in detail is explain. Well I just can say the Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie is an experience that as a fan make feel satisfied with the direction its taking. Peter continue being a person who suffers, cry, who carries hope and a deep lost, with a love that right know won't return to him, at the same time is a hero that accept his new powers, a new responsibility and a live that must combine to coexist with himself, probably he and we felt that nothing has change but at the end Peter has gained, he gained a new chapter in his life, is a survivor, a man and a hero. I would give this movie a 7/10 but dont get me wrong, this is a very very solid 7, its just that neve felt like a teather movie, felt more like one I can stream at home and compared to other superhero movies is not an 8 or a 9.

Love that movie. It felt like 2 movies however. The one with the Punisher and the other with the Hulk. I like that is not just the same origin story over and over like they did with Batman for example.
