Película Deux en La Alianza Francesa en Bogotá [ESP-ENG]

Un par de días atrás, mientras chequeaba las últimas publicaciones en instagram, vi un anuncio de la Alianza Francesa de Bogotá invitando al público general a asistir a la Franja de Cine Francés con las películas más destacadas de los premios Cesar. Los horarios de la función eran jueves y viernes a las 6:00 p.m, tanto para la semana pasada como para esta.

A couple of days ago, checking the latest posts on instagram, I saw an announcement from the Française Alliance of Bogota inviting the general public to attend the French Film Strip with the most outstanding films of the César Awards. The show times were Thursday and Friday at 6:00 p.m, for both last week and this week.

Aparté entradas para la función de ayer jueves en la tarde para ver la película “Deux”. La asistencia era totalmente gratuita y solo debíamos presentar el carnet de vacunación. No tenía ninguna expectativa acerca de esta obra, no había leído ni siquiera la sinopsis. Solo sabía que era una película francesa, pero como era mi primera vez asistiendo a un evento de la alianza francesa, tampoco sabía si la película tendría subtítulos. Para nuestra suerte, durante los primeros minutos de la proyección aparecieron los subtítulos en español y ya pudimos concentrarnos en disfrutar la película.

I reserved tickets for yesterday's Thursday afternoon showing of the movie "Deux". Attendance was totally free and we only had to present our vaccination card. I had no expectations about this movie, I had not even read the synopsis. I only knew that it was a French film, but as it was my first time attending a French alliance event, I also did not know if the film would have subtitles. Luckily for us, during the first few minutes of the screening, the Spanish subtitles appeared and we were able to concentrate on enjoying the film.

“Deux” nos muestra la relacional sentimental entre dos mujeres de edad avanzada, una de ellas incluso es viuda, tiene hijos y nietos. Visto desde afuera estas mujeres parecen simplemente vecinas de un mismo piso, pero lo cierto es que han guardado para ellas mismas un romance por décadas. Ambas tienen el deseo de dejarlo todo atrás para vivir en Roma, sin embargo, a una de ellas se le hace muy difícil comunicarle a su familia sobre su relación y los planes de partida. Esto causa malestar y desconfianza en la relación, sin embargo, el verdadero problema se presenta cuando un suceso inesperado estremece sus vidas para cambiarlas completamente. Los planes quedan detenidos pero el amor y el deseo de estar unidas permanece.

"Deux" shows us the sentimental relationship between two elderly women, one of them is even a widow, has children and grandchildren. Seen from the outside, these women seem to be simple neighbors in the same building, but the truth is that they have been having an affair for decades. Both have the desire to leave everything behind to live in Rome, but one of them finds it very difficult to tell her family about her relationship and her plans to leave. This causes uneasiness and mistrust in the relationship, however, the real problem arises when an unexpected event shakes their lives and changes them completely. Plans are put on hold, but the love and desire to be together remains.

Esta película retrata el amor, la pasión y la ternura en la tercera edad. Yo antes pensaba que las cosas más alocadas por amor la hacían los jóvenes, pero eso no es tan cierto. Luego de ver esta película comprendí que lo romántico asume cualquier riesgo o consecuencia, más allá de la etapa vital, que el amor de verdad es firme, paciente y protector, pero también puede llegar a ser salvaje y desesperado.

This film portrays love, passion and tenderness in old age. I used to think that the craziest follies for love were done by the young, but that is not so true. After watching this film I realized that the romantic takes any risk or consequence, regardless of stage of life, that true love is firm, patient and protective, but it can also be wild and desperate.

Las imágenes en la película son muy bonitas, especialmente las escenas en el parque junto al sonido de los pájaros, y también las escenas dentro de casa, las cuales retratan la cotidianidad, la discapacidad, la dureza y la belleza de la vida. El tema de ser una pareja de orientación sexual no normativa está presente en la trama, y todas las complejidades que esto implica.

The images in the film are very beautiful, especially the scenes in the park along with the sound of the birds, and also the scenes inside the house, which portray the everyday, the disability, the harshness and the beauty of life. The theme of being a non-normative sexual orientation couple is present in the plot, and all the complexities that this implies.

Esta es la ópera prima del director Filippo Meneghetti, fue estrenada en 2019 y nominada en 2020 a diversas premiaciones, entre ellas, los globos de oro y Los premios Cesar. La duración de esta película es de una hora 30 minutos que pasa volando, y la trama cuenta una historia que vale la pena ver, por eso quise recomendárselas hoy. Esta película también me dejó una canción en francés que me gustó mucho “Chariot” de Betty Curtis, acá se las comparto
