Never will it be a struggle for me talking about my favourite village-set film because it was so good that I can clearly remember all that happened in the movie and give you a scene to scene explanation, hehe.
It's very funny thinking that the movie in question is not one of my country's movie but that's because I lost hope in my country's movie as a result of poor creativity for a very long time but I must admit that the recent releases are very nice, with so much improvement and creativity, not to talk about the great graphics too.
That being said, my favourite village-set film is no movie other than Jumong.
Jumong is a 81-episode epic Korean series that depicted the struggles that birthed out the Goguryeo nation (Current Korea) and independence from the Han Nation.
What's Unique and Exciting About Jumong ?
- It Teaches An Unadulterated History Of The Korea
This movie is very instrumental in getting to know about Korean history.
I say unadulterated not because I don't know that it was acted but then, despite the fact that it was a movie which obviously was acted and a lot of movie tricks implanted inside, one great thing I discovered even after reading the history of Korea in paper was that they sticked to the history despite the acting.... That's really amazing.
To paint a picture the way it was exactly written without additions and subtractions and I give the Director and the Casts kudos for that.
- Depicts In A Great Way That Hardwork And Dedication Are Core In Life's Success.
Jumong is a movie where the lead character was lazy and unambitious initially but after an incident had a rethink about his life and was dedicated to make a "U-turn".
It all takes one singular decision and dedication to pull that through and was well shown In this movie.
Nothing good obviously comes easy but everything good can come with the right mindset, hardwork and dedication.
- Inscribing Your Name In The Minds Of Men
The lead character in Jumong had no one when he was starting off his life's ambition but then, he made sure he was good to everyone he came across and this made them to come back looking for him. This also helped him to get their assistance whenever he called for it... One good turn deserves another.
Clearly shows us that A good heart attracts people who will be willing to make sacrifices for your sake.
- How To Respond To Difficult Times
The lead character was subjected to a lot of Maltreatment and harsh situations coming from his half brothers even to the extent of him running away for his life but then, he didn't allow those maltreatment and harsh times consume him but rather he saw it as a tool to propel himself to be better and that's the right response to difficult times.
It's always easy to say that difficult times don't last but difficult people do theoretically but then in practice, you see people falling into depression and giving up easily even before the main hurdle hits them
Jumong series is a movie that I will be comfortable watching thousands of times without getting tired because of how fun it is and because of the great lessons it has to offer.
Asides from the fact that the movie is a very long one (you'll have to spend atleast 90hours to get it done with), the movie is a movie anyone will enjoy especially the historians.
