When I had the opportunity to see this series in the middle of 2019, I must say that I loved it, it has everything that I personally like history, a good narrative, war and emotional conflicts as well as psychological, an incredible character development and above all a good atmosphere coupled to the time, I admit that once I had the opportunity to finish the series I went directly to read the manga and believe me I was not disappointed at all.
I understand a little why the work of this particular mangaca is compared with famous manga like Vagabond and even Berserk, in this case I will focus mostly on talking about the animation of this series and of course on some aspects of the manga, in case you are interested in looking for it later and read it after watching the series, so without further ado this time I will talk about Vinland Saga.
Cuando tuve la oportunidad de ver esta serie a mitades del 2019, debo decir que me encanto tiene todo lo que en lo personal me gusta historia, una buena narrativa, conflictos bélicos y emocionales así como psicológicos, un desarrollo increíble de personajes y sobre todo una buena ambientación acoplado a la época, admito que una vez que tuve la oportunidad de culminar la serie fui directamente a leerme el manga y créanme que no me decepciono en lo absoluto.
Comprendo un poco el porqué la obra de este mangaca en particular es comparada con mangas famosos como Vagabundo y Berserk incluso, en este caso me enfocare en su mayoría de hablar de la animación de esta serie y claro sobre algunos aspectos del manga, por si les interesa buscarlo luego y leerlo después de verse la serie, así que sin mas preámbulo esta vez les hablare sobre Vinland Saga.

Vinland Saga is a manga written and illustrated by Makoto Yukimura, which has published a total of 24 volumes. It was first published in 2005 for Shukan Shonen Magazine, but in December of the same year, it was moved to Aftermoon monthly magazine where it continues its publication until today. The reason why the publication of his work was changed is because this series was unraveled later, not as a Shonen (content for young boys) but as a Seinen (content aimed at young adults).
It was on July 7, 2019 where it was broadcast for the first time in the anime counting a total of 24 chapters, and its completion was on December 29 of that same year, said corresponding adaptation was carried out by the animation studio Wit Studio.
The animation studio Wit, is a Japanese animation studio, founded on July 1, 2012, part of the work done by this studio have been works such as Pokemon XY, The rolling girls, among others but the most characteristic and notable work as well as recognized was the elaboration of the animation of the first season of Shingeky no Kyojin or Attack on titan in 2013 and the third season of the same anime in 2018.
Vinland Saga es un manga escrito eh ilustrado por Makoto Yukimura, el cual tiene publicado hasta la actualidad un total de 24 tomos. Fue publicado por primera vez en el 2005 para la revista Shukan Shonen Magazine, pero en Diciembre de ese mismo año, este pasó a la revista mensual Aftermoon donde continúa su publicación hasta la actualidad. La razón por la cual la publicación de su trabajo se cambio es debido a que esta serie se desenlazo luego, no como un Shonen (contenido para chicos jóvenes) si no como un Seinen (contenido dirigido a jóvenes adultos)
Fue el 7 de Julio del 2019 donde se emitió por primera vez en el anime contando con un total de 24 capítulos, y su finalización fue el 29 de Diciembre de ese mismo año, dicha adaptación correspondiente se llevo a cabo por el estudio de animación Wit Studio.
El estudio de animación Wit, es un estudio de animación japonesa, fundado el 1 de Julio del 2012, parte del trabajo que ha hecho este estudio han sido obras como Pokemon XY, The rolling girls, entre otras pero el trabajo mas característico y notable así como reconocido fue la la elaboración de la animación de la primera temporada de Shingeky no Kyojin o Attack on titan en el 2013 y la tercera temporada del mismo anime en el 2018.
Synopsis / Sinopsis
The plot takes place in Iceland and revolves around Thorfinn, a little boy who lives with his family and has a quiet life within what fits, one of the aspects that really enjoys Thorfinn is listening to the stories of an old man named Leif Ericson, this gentleman tells him how long ago in one of his voyages sailing he found a land where the landscape, flora and fauna are beautiful, He also takes the time to tell him about the past of his father (Thors) explaining that he was a great Viking warrior and that his family did not settle in Iceland for pleasure, but for something more complicated and dangerous and it is from these stories and how the past of his father comes to Thorfinn and his family, changing considerably in many ways his life and that of others.
La trama se desarrolla en Islandia y gira en torno a Thorfinn, un pequeño niño que vive con su familia y tiene una vida tranquila dentro de lo que cabe, uno de los aspectos que realmente disfruta Thorfinn es escuchar las historias de un viejo llamado Leif Ericson, este señor le cuenta como hace mucho tiempo atrás en una de sus travesías navegando encontró una tierra donde el paisaje, la flora y fauna son hermosas, donde no se congelan los ríos y donde hay suficientes medios para prosperar y llevar una buena vida, a esta tierra el la denomino como "Vinlad" también se toma el tiempo para contarle el pasado de su padre (Thors) explicándole que fue un gran guerrero vikingo y que su familia no se estableció por gusto en Islandia, si no por algo más complicado y peligroso y es partir de estos relatos y como el pasado de su padre llega a Thorfin y su familia, cambiando considerablemente en muchos sentidos su vida y la de otros.

There are several aspects of which I will try to address part by part, on the development of this plot and its characters that I personally loved very much but before getting to it, I think it is very important to know the value and historical weight in this work. You will see that a large part of the cast of characters that we will see are associated with historical figures, since the events that are seen in the work already occurred as such and were unraveled a long time ago, however the author has the possibility and creative initiative to give a personal nuance to the growth and development of them without discarding or leaving aside the weight of them in reality according to the personality and situations experienced, which I think is very good, a series that could serve as a reference to the above mentioned with historical characters is Viking, in which the events that occurred before real events are followed but having the creative freedom to schematize it to personal convenience, as the development of personalities, dealing with others, and other initiatives.
Characters like Thorfinn himself, his father Thors and even the father of old Ericson are characters that have made a significant mark in our history. One aspect that I really liked is the adaptability of our protagonist and the great amount of things that he goes through to not only survive but to be able to consummate a personal revenge, the growth that shows this is quite enjoyable, in the anime we can see his more cynical and cruel side for all that he has lived but in the manga really his transition is completely magnificent showing a significant maturity with a different sense of search and more in line with his new rebuild in his life.
The animation is beautiful and captures your interest in the environment, battles, food, characters and costumes, a good job by this animation studio, the development or decline at the emotional, psychological or mental level of other characters are very good, we can see the perspective of these warriors or mercenaries either in combat or their lifestyle to survive and the repercussions of having a lifestyle like that.
To finish I must inform you two things the first if you see the series and are very interested in reading the manga I inform you that the time span in the manga and the anime are different, in the manga begins with a Thorfinn a little more grown up but still a boy, showing us what he lives at that time, and then we will be presented through memories what he lived, in the anime happens in the opposite way, we are shown from the beginning what I mentioned, the life of him with his family in Iceland before the past of his father finds him. Both ways are different ways of presenting the plot but they are good for me. Hay varios aspectos de los cuales intentare abordar parte por parte, sobre la elaboración de esta trama y sus personajes que en lo personal me encantaron muchísimo pero antes de llegar a ello, pienso que es muy importante que se sepa el valor y peso histórico en esta obra. Verán gran parte del elenco de personajes que veremos están asociados a figuras históricas, ya que los acontecimientos que se ven en la obra ya ocurrieron como tal y se desenlazaron hace mucho tiempo, sin embargo el autor tiene la posibilidad y la iniciativa creativa de darle un matiz personal al crecimiento y desarrollo de los mismos sin descartar o dejar de lado el peso de ellos en la realidad acorde a la personalidad y situaciones experimentadas lo cual me parece muy bien, una serie que podría servir como referencia ante lo mencionado con personajes históricos es Vikingos, en el cual se sigue lo ocurrido ante acontecimientos reales pero teniendo la libertad creativa de esquematizarlo a conveniencia personal, como el desarrollo de las personalidades, trato con otros, y otras iniciativas.
Personajes como el mismo Thorfinn, su padre Thors e inclusive el padre del viejo Ericson son personajes que han hecho una marca significativa en nuestra historia. Un aspecto que me gusto mucho es la adaptabilidad de nuestro protagonista y la gran cantidad de cosas que este atraviesa para no solo sobrevivir si no para poder consumar una venganza personal, el crecimiento que muestra este es bastante disfrutable, en el anime podemos ver su lado más cínico y más cruel por todo lo que ha vivido pero en el manga realmente su transición es completamente magnifica mostrando una madurez significativa con un sentido de búsqueda diferente y más acorde a su nuevo rehacer en su vida.
La animación es hermosa capta tu interés tanto en el ambiente, como en las batallas, comidas, personajes o atuendos un buen trabajo por parte de este estudio de animación, el desarrollo o declive a nivel emocional, psicológico o mental de otros personajes son muy buenos podemos ver la perspectiva de estos guerreros o mercenarios sea en el combate o su estilo de vida para sobrevivir y las repercusiones que conlleva tener un estilo de vida así.
Para culminar debo informales dos cosas la primera si ven la serie y quedan muy interesados en leer el manga les informo que el lapso de tiempo en el manga y el anime son diferentes, en el manga comienza con un Thorfinn un poco mas crecido pero sigue siendo un chico, mostrándonos lo que vive en ese momento, y luego se nos presentara por medio de recuerdos lo que vivió, en el anime pasa de forma contraria, se nos muestra desde el principio lo que mencione, la vida de el con su familia en Islandia antes de que el pasado de su padre lo encuentre. Ambas formas son diferentes de presentar la trama pero son buenas para mí. Y la segunda cosa que quería informarles es que hay un personaje increíble que cumple un rol como antagonista y se llama Askeladd es un gran personaje tendrá un peso muy significativo para la trama en muchos sentidos como no tienen idea, y con esto termino espero haya sido de su agrado la lectura, gracias por llegar hasta aquí y hasta la próxima.
