Hey guys I’m back again with another movie review today. Yes, it has been weeks since I last posted the review and I’m doing it again. Today I’ll be doing another really old movie review. This time it’s another favorite Notorious (1946).
[Image](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/167407311136909307/)Mr. Alfred Hitchcock was a genius. The "Master of Suspense" knew how to engage the audience. Even if you haven't watched any of his movies, you have obviously heard of Psycho (1960). But I'm not talking about that movie.
With Ingrid Bergman and Cary Grant in the lead, this movie is one of the most entertaining movies I have seen so far. It kept me up on my toes for most of the part and the actors have played marvelously. Ingrid Bergman, what to say about her. Although my favorite is Lauren Bacall I’m equally fond of Bergman, I should say. I have seen her in Casablanca (1942) before, but I find her acting in Notorious far better here. She is gorgeous and I don’t know why but I find her face very modern. And Cary Grant in his suave self has made this movie quite entertaining. I have seen Charade and To Catch a Thief (of which I’ll do reviews very soon and a few others on my list to watch later), and he’s such a versatile actor.

The movie is set in the days during WWII and American Intelligence was trying to figure out the German’s moves. Sounds intriguing right? Yes, it is. So the movie starts with the scene where a man a pleading in the court saying that the court is making a mistake and a few moments later our leading lady, Alicia (Bergman), walks out through the doors with tears in her eyes. Later on, she throws a party where she met our charming yet aloof Mr. Devlin (Grant). It was quite unsure if they’ve hit it off at that party because throughout the shindig he never spoke a word. Later on, Alicia went for a drunk driver and while she was driving recklessly, she gets pulled over by the cop but Devlin had saved her. Alicia now realizes that Devlin works for the government and she’s enraged. Soon after she gets an offer to work as a spy for the government. No, I won’t be revealing everything. Go watch the movie.

[Image](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/544091198716096114/)Okay now Alicia and Devlin go to Rio De Janeiro where they fell in love. Devlin gets called by his superiors and was informed that Alicia has to spy on Alexander Sebastian (Claude Rains) who is a high-ranking member of German Intelligence operating in Rio. It was revealed that Alex was in love with Alicia and she had a quite promiscuous past.

[Image](https://chrlesvane.tumblr.com/post/156601295676/notorious-1946-directed-by-alfred-hitchcock)At that point, Devlin started to doubt Alicia’s feelings for him and chucked the thought of the affair out of his mind thinking that she might not be feeling the same way. And when he delivered this news to Alicia about spying on Alex, she thought Devlin doesn’t love her and meant to use her for the assignment. She agreed to do the job, which eventually leads her to get married to Alex.

[Image](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/a3/7d/4b/a37d4b0da2cf5f8c3bf9a153d7d4ea9a.gif)Things with the newly married couple were fine in the beginning but it soon turns worse. Alicia manipulated Alex to throw a party to announce their marriage where Devlin shows up to inspect. Later that night Alex finds out that Alicia is a spy and asks his mother for help. They start to poison Alicia on a daily basis and she fell sick. Devlin suspects that something was wrong and went to Alex’s house. He found Alicia half-dead on the bed. He takes Alicia away to get her treated in the hospital with much difficulty. Ta-daa

It's been said that Notoriuos (1946) was a major turning point for Alfred Hitchcock. With so much mystery and drama, and the affair between the lovers was doomed. And guys it doesn't show if Alicia had survived so whether it was a doomed love story or not, it's unknown at this point. I hope you guys enjoy watching this movie.
