While the current world is an era of solo living, divorce is more frequent than marriage, living relationships and sex toys are the eternal happiness for the new generation, a movie that represents the divine relationship that is maintained for 50 years with endless love and care may be very disgusting for the 21st century's generation. And who dares to make a movie on such a topic that is neglected and vanishing from the social structure even in South Asian countries while already gone from the developed countries in Europe, America, and all over the world!
Movies are focusing on entertainment without leaving any message to the viewers but there are some movies that are telling some crucial issues and some eternal message to society. "Belashuru" is such a masterpiece that will make you feel something about our modern relationships and our responsibilities towards our partners. Really such thoughts will trigger many people's minds to recalibrate their responsibilities in their personal life, especially with wives or husbands!
This is another masterpiece from Soumitra Chatterjee after the "Bela Seshe" in 2015. He was an evergreen actor in Kolkata's movie world. Even the Bangladeshi people love Kolkata's movies like me and writing about such an amazing movie today. Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy are the directors of ‘Belashuru’. The movie has almost the same team of cast from ‘Belaseshe’ which was released in 2015 and obtained an emerging positive feedback from critics and audiences from around the world. Belashese’s story is extended in 'Belashuru' and evolved with around 75-year-old Biswanath Majumdar (acted by late evergreen artist Soumitra Chatterjee) who has a publishing business and his wife, Arati (acted by late evergreen artist Swatilekha Sengupta). They have been living together with a long married life of 49 years and are blessed with four children. The eldest son is Barin (acted by Sankar Chakraborty), followed by three daughters, Malasree (acted by Rituparna Sengupta), Kaberi (acted by Aparajita Auddy), and Piu (acted by Monami Ghosh), all of them are now well-settled with their husbands with some after marriage issues which are being focused to leave a message about the importance of the responsibilities of partners to lead a happy life.
In Belashuru Arati is suffering from Alzheimer's disease and Bishwanath is taking care of her with too much caring while Arati is unable to recognize her wife Biswanath. How the situation is created in such a way which is really praiseworthy for the team as of now, people hire some nurses for look after for such patients. But at this stage, Biswanath is trying his best to cure his wife so that she could recognize her. At this stage often Arati is not found in the home and Biswanath and their children are giving them every effort to find her.
The story will be very useless for many people, especially for the western people who have almost cut the bondings from their parents and now they are cutting the bondings among their partners at full speed! But for the people in South Asia, it still matters to look after their old parents in their home. Similarly in the movie, Biswanth's children want to hire a nurse and take their mother in the city but Biswanath insisted to keep his wife with him in the village to try to cure her. It is clearly represents how modern people's thoughts are changing generation after generation.
Also, the modern issues with family relationships and their complexities have been pulled through the issues of Biswanath's children's family. They have many issues with divorce, career-related issues and homosexuality and mental stress. Where their parents are revealing an extraordinary marriage life, they are facing some solvable issues due to their lack in the respect and responsibilities in their relationships.
The best two soothing parts of the movie come with their journey to Bangladesh for the sake of Arati's memory gain but in vain and their marriage ceremony of them at this stage. As Arat's memory of her early life is dominating due to the disease, the marriage was a step to flashback her all memory but this step also failed. But Biswanath is strong enough to carry out his responsibilities towards Arati which is the best message of the movie. Peopldiees but a true relationship never dies!
Negative points I love the movement in overall but the prior movie 'Belaseshe' was more solid from many technical aspects and the scripts. I am mentioning some issues that as make the movie to get some negativity among movie lovers.
The script is not well-written, some parts are intentionally made lengthy with unnecessary lower dialogues.
There can be more participation of some characters to make the story a better one.
Some repetitive actions are intentionally included.
The overall theme was perfect but the presentation was not perfect the character of Arati and Biswanath was mindblowing.
And finally, the location in some scenes was very generic and doesn't move with the movie such as where Arati is lost!
Thank you for reading my post. If you are interested you can watch both of the movies which really makes you feel your relationship! Have a good day!
