I haven't really watched any anime recently because I've been so into reading a lot of Webtoons. However, I watched an animated series that one of my Japanese friends recommended last month. It's called ***Akuyaku Reijou Tensei Ojisan*** or *The Old Man Reincarnated as a Villainess*.
From the title itself, you'd know that it's isekai-themed.
Kenzaburou Tondabayashi, the middle-aged main character, is a bureaucrat who also happens to be an otaku.
One day, on his way home, he got hit by a truck (Yes, "Truck-kun" is the culprit this time, too.) after trying to save a little boy crossing the road with his ball. Upon waking up, he realized he was transported into a different world.
He recognized the new world he was in, though. The people around him and the setting look familiar. It was an otome game called "Magical Academy: Love and Beast"... and he recognized his new identity as Grace Auvergne, the game's villainess, who made the main character, Anna, miserable.
As I've mentioned, he's an otaku. His wife and his daughter are the same, so there were times when he watched his daughter play the game in their house. He diligently listened to her every time she told him about the characters, settings, and all other random stuff about it. He may not have played the game himself, but he has watched his daughter do so many times.
With the prior information he knew about the game, and his experiences from his previous life, he decided to live and enjoy his new life.
However, will this kindhearted otaku dad play the role of the game's villainess well? It's for you to find out! ^^

I enjoyed this animated series a lot. It's funny and heartwarming at the same time.
I sometimes watch anime with my mom, so I can relate to the daughter's relationship and closeness to her parents. When I get the chance, I'd like to watch this again, but this time with my mom @arashi0416. ^^
I also used to play otome games years ago (some involve fantasy, history, etc), so the otome world where the MC landed seems nostalgic for me. I also appreciate how it didn't focus solely on romance, but also showed a huge portion of the game's fantasy aspects.
I love the main character so much. He's such a lovely person, and it's entertaining how he keeps forgetting that he was supposed to be a villainess and not a dad. Once a dad, always a dad! hahah You'll get what I mean once you watch it. ^^
The art and animation styles weren't the best, but overall, it's still pretty.
I hope they release a second season soon. I have several questions regarding some of the characters in the game... and I wonder if the MC would one day wake up and meet his family again. :)
I'll end this post here. Thanks for reading, and I hope you give this one a shot if you still haven't.
