I rarely watch TV series except for animated ones, but when I do it's usually under the horror or thriller genre. I just enjoy watching horror films but it's not really because of the jump scare and things like that. Of course, it's more enjoyable with some jump scare here and there, but I like horror stories with an amusing plot, a good background story, some interesting topics aside from the scary part or something with a lot of twists.
I have reviewed some horror films in the past, but this time, allow me to talk about a TV series which is entitled ***The Haunting of Bly Manor***.
The story is about ***DANI*** who is an American trying to start a new life in England as a way to escape her traumatic past. She ended up being hired as an *au pair* by Henry Wingrave, the uncle of Miles and Flora who are currently living in their house in the country called ***The Bly Manor***.
Living in Bly was like an escape for Dani from the ghosts of her past, but it turned out that there are some mysteries which are yet to unfold for her there.
Miles and Flora are such adorable kids but somehow you'd notice that there's something wrong with them. Flora is a sweetheart but there are times when she'd just blankly look at something. Miles is quite eccentric. There are times when he acts like an adult to the point that you'd think he's an entirely different person.
Around the 17th century, the Bly Manor was owned by Viola and Perdita. They're sisters who originally owned Bly. There's an entire story about these sisters around episode 8 which will further make the audience understand the history of Bly including all the hauntings that are happening in the current years.
Another phenomenon that I enjoyed and was curious about the series is the ***"being tuck in one's memories"***. By this, one character is able to relive his or her memory or even memories. Some of them somehow can control it while others can only go with the flow over and over again. I bet you, not all memories they get tuck in to are happy ones.
Amidst all the haunting and explainable stuff happening here and there, Dani found refuge and love from Jamie who is actually a gardener at Bly. She also has her issues and stories to tell, but I'm pretty glad they found each other.

There are parts of the series when you also get lost as to what's happening but everything would be fully explained in the later episodes. It wasn't that scary although there were some scenes that would indeed increase your heart rate. However, what I like about it is how each character was given a story.
I like it when characters in movies and series are introduced in a way that you can actually feel for them. I mean, it was easy to understand each character of this series because they're given background stories which could make you understand them better.
I also like how the settings or pieces of stories were brought together into a single interesting plot. The actors were also really good. Their mere facial expressions can make you feel eerily uncomfortable. *haha* But really, I give it to them! ^^
Now, I'm watching ***The Haunting of Hill House***. It actually came first than Bly Manor, but most of the actors are the same. It's also made and directed by the same person. I should've watched it first, but many reviews said they're actually not related, so I'll just continue. I think this one is more horror-like than Bly, but so far, I love the message that The Haunting of Bly Manor has left for its audience.
