Last Friday, I was looking for either a completed manga or a webtoon to read. I've been reading ongoing ones recently and every time I catch up with the latest chapter, I feel so frustrated!
And so, I stumbled upon a Webtoon called ***Weak Hero***.
In the Webtoon, Eunjang High School is notorious for having a lot of delinquent students. It's a school where a lot of bullies gather, though there are still normal students who are somehow considered prey.
Weaker students are always afraid and are trying their best not to attract attention so as not to get bullied. However, their constant fear somehow disappeared when Gray Yeon came.
Gray, although scrawny and inferior-looking, left everyone in their class in shock after he overpowered a bully who was much bigger and taller than him.
As the news spread and people got to know of him going against bullies not only in their school but also in other neighboring schools, he was then named Eunjang's White Mamba.
Gray wasn't mindlessly going after bullies, though. He just didn't want a painful event to happen again. Good thing, he found his people!
It was such a good read. I like stories like this... it's realistic and reflects the dark side of our society. It's awful sometimes, but there are days when we feel like being alive is such an amazing experience.
There were a lot of interesting characters in the story... and the backstories always hit me! There's a reason why people become the way they are, but it still boils down to the choices they make. Sometimes, we experienced hardships to the point of giving up, but we still decided to be kind.
The concept of revenge is also well-presented in the story... and there were various ways to do it.
The ending was to my liking. It may have made me choke as I stopped my tears (because I was reading it while waiting for my student to join the class. lol), but I believe that was the best ending one could possibly have.
It was both sad and happy... but oddly satisfying. I'm happy I stumbled upon this. If you're interested, it's available on the Webtoon app. :)
