I have always wanted to have telepathic powers where I can secretly communicate with people anytime and anywhere. How much more when I could do it at a larger scale... meaning, I can communicate with someone from far away transform myself like a realistic hologram so the person I'm talking with from faraway can actually see me and vice versa.
Well, it wouldn't hurt being able to do teleportation too. Anyway, the reason why I'm blabbing about these things is because of Doctor Sleep.
It's actually a sequel of a movie from 1980 called "The Shining", but I actually haven't watched that one yet. It would be awesome to do so when I get the chance.
Anyway, Doctor Sleep is about Dan Torrance *(the main character from The Shining)* and a little girl named Abra Stone who has similar powers as him. The little girl discovered the existence of a cult known as "The True Knot".
Abra who was playfully communicating with her new friend "Uncle Dan" told him what she has just witnessed and asked for his help. Although reluctant at first, he ended up helping her and that where the chase and confrontations began.

I actually enjoyed this movie. Although it's not the best I've seen, but it was exciting. The concept and the supernatural power the characters possess were pretty interesting. Well, it isn't unique, but I like how they were utilized in the story. Well, it's Stephen King after all. *haha*
Despite it being a horror or suspense thriller film, there were also some heartwarming and funny moments. I guess being able to see such things in a horror film makes it better. It's like riding a roller coaster... times when you're calm and plainly having fun and all of a sudden you drop.
There weren't a lot of jump scares in the film, but it has this feeling of anticipation. I don't know how to describe it, but it's like you're gradually surprised but still as effective. *haha*
Watching the film made me want to watch the prequel and read the book. I've read some reviews of people who both watched the previous movie and read the book and they weren't at all disappointed. They even praised this film which made me even more curious. Despite not being able to do both, I still enjoyed the film. I could imagine what happened in the first film through some flashbacks and scenes which happened in "The Overlook".
Overall, it's a film that I would gladly recommend and would even happily watch again. I still wish to have such ability, though... minus the cult part. *haha*
