So I watched Captain America: Civil War, and guess what, it's a one hundred times better version of Batman V Superman. If you break down the plot you get the exact same story. The differences are:
This movie has a very good build up. The internal conflict happens after the team is formed in a previous movie, instead of before.
The guest star is Spiderman. Everybody loves Spiderman and on top of that he was portrayed beautifully. Nothing close to Wonder Woman, a walking pair of breasts nobody would give a dime about if she wasn't there.
Although the reason the heroes begun fighting each other was still rather weak, it was an amazingly long and well choreographed battle where a dozen people with various powers cause havoc, unlike just Batman and Superman punching each other for 10 minutes.
The reason the heroes stopped fighting was not silly such as their mothers having the same name. They realized things got out of hand when some of them got seriously hurt.
The final boss was not a naked troll. It wasn't even those 5 super soldiers that they were hinting throughout the movie. It was yet another internal conflict, this time not for ideological reasons but for personal ones.
As for the main villain, although he also had no relation to the comic book counterpart, at least he didn't irritate me like Lex Luthor did. And his motivations made sense. I even felt a bit sorry for him at the end.
And even if I see it as a standalone action movie instead of a sequel to Avengers 2 or the better version of Batman V Superman, it's still an overall good superhero movie. It may feel slow at points but the payoff was worth every minute of it. Is it a masterpiece? No, it's not. It was a cheap excuse to see a dozen superheroes reenacting your favorite fan fiction. Take out the excuse for them to fight and there is close to nothing left.
The Watchmen did the exact same premise way before and way better than anyone who tried to copy the success. But it was still a blast for what it aimed to be and it didn't anger me for any particular reason. Marvel rules, DC drools.
