Why the Fuck Should I Watch: ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL?

Review by @thefilmcritic · 2729d · of Alita: Battle Angel

Why the fuck should you watch “Alita: Battle Angel”? • You share the kinky preference of “weird large eyes” with James Cameron. • You like science fiction movies that take place in the future and where people get cut up all the time (this is one of the most strangely violent PG-13 film you could imagine). • You haven’t seen the trailers, so there might b some things that might still surprise you (…and maybe not. Disclaimer: I am not promising you anything!) • You like faultless smooth sexy CGI. Mmmm, that sexy expensive CGI, mmmmm. • You think that the best thing in the Star Wars saga were the robotic limbs.

Wanna see people cut in pieces? Wanna see a teenage lookin' girl covered with dog-blood? Wanna see how a robot grows boobs? Well wait no more - Alita: Battle Angel is here!

The movie takes place in the future, where most of the human civilization lives in one town, but hey, look above, there’s another ..town in the sky (wtf?) for the Villain to look down and smile…but very evilly. The main character is a young 300 years old brain of a girl who has robot body and still eats real food. She finds out that she’s one of the most dangerous thing…person…entity in the world. So she starts fighting bad guys and then everything escalates quickly, and in multiple direction at the same time.

The strong aspect of the movie was definitely the part of the storytelling in which they didn't give too much background information about the world or the characters. If we talk about making more money, that was the correct approach, since the plot itself was pretty predictable, it still raised many interesting questions and made the viewer think beyond the limits of the rather stupid plot and motifs.

That's why Alita is another movie of the genre “makes enough money to get an sequel”. And probably we will because it was set up rather nicely, especially in terms of visuals. To be honest I would actually want to see the prequel – the sentence I never imagined I would say.

Why the fuck you shouldn’t watch “Alita: Battle Angel”? • You don’t like that young adult bullshit. “Mortal Engines” was the last drop. No more! • If you want clichés in your life then instead watching movies, you prefer to get a new boyfriend who you don’t actually like and after a month dump him by saying “it’s not you, it’s me”. • The idea of watching middle age men's imagination of a teenage boy's wet dream does not make you excited. • You are afraid that cringing too much because of the lame dialogue, melodramatic tones and XXX turns your face into a lemon.
