Blues Brothers/Los Hermanos Caradura (Review/Reseña)

Jake Blues has just been released from prison, he only thinks about what his next hit will be, when his brother Elwood asks him to go to church to see the sister who raised them when they were orphans, there, Jake has a revelation, unite his old jazz band to raise money for the church.

Jake Blues acaba de salir de prisión, solo piensa en cual sera su siguiente golpe, cuando su hermano Elwood, le pide que vaya a la iglesia a ver a la hermana que los crió cuando eran huérfanos, allí, Jake tiene una revelación, unir a su antigua banda de jazz para recaudar fondos para la iglesia.

When I was a kid, this movie always seemed incredible to me, maybe my love of musicals made me like it more than usual, but it doesn't mean that it's a great movie just because it's my favorite genre. Blues Brothers is a jazz musical that uses comedy in light moments to entertain the viewer at all times, I thought at some point that it was a series or something like that, but I see that they are two movies.

I got to see the second one more than the first one on television, back then you couldn't choose what to watch so if that was what was happening, you had to watch it or ignore it. I got the first movie and I wanted to see it complete, to see what I lost in my memory of having seen it as a child.

The story in general is considered a Christian film, as I came to read in an article on some page, just because everything is about rescuing an orphanage from the Catholic Church. There is a before the film, something that we can only imagine, there is no filmed or sketched before the film, the story goes after the release of one of the Blues brothers for armed robbery, causing the band to dissolve to earn money in different ways.

The search of each member can be funny or entertaining, it can have a musical or silly scenes of the protagonists, for being from 1980 their humor is not as silly as it could be, it has its Looney toons moments where it doesn't make sense but I think it's the appeal of the film, let it be seen that it is not serious. I remember that in the second film there are ghosts or spirits, something that has nothing to do with the blues.

Previously I always got confused when they changed the main actors, I thought they were the same but older or fatter. In this case, in the second part they changed John Belushi, not because of some problem with his attitude or something like that, but because of his death in 1982, two years after the movie was released.

It's funny how I came to look for this movie again, I was just watching a documentary about movies when he was named and I remembered that he had made this movie, it was one of my favorites as a child because I didn't know so many musicals, or that there weren't that many for that then. Blues Brothers has been a cult film for many and although it has not won many awards, it is undoubtedly one of the films that any movie buff should see.

Cuando era un niño, esta película siempre me pareció increíble, tal vez mi afición a los musicales hizo que me gustara más de lo normal, pero no le quita que sea una gran película solo por ser de mi genero favorito. Blues Brothers es un musical de jazz que utiliza la comedia en ligeros momentos para entretener en cada momento al espectador, pensé en algún momento que se trataba de una serie o algo por el estilo, pero veo que son dos películas.

Llegue a ver más la segunda que la primera en televisión, en aquel entonces no podías elegir que ver así que si eso era lo que pasaban, tenias que verlo o ignorarlo. Conseguí la primera película y quise verla completa, a ver de que me perdí en mi memoria de haberla visto de pequeño.

La historia en general, es considerada una película cristiana, según llegue a leer en un articulo en alguna pagina, solo por el hecho de que todo va entorno a rescatar un orfanato de la iglesia católica. Hay un antes de la película, algo que solo nos podemos imaginar, no existe un antes de la película filmado o boceteado, la historia va después de la liberación de uno de los hermanos Blues por robo a mano armada, haciendo que la banda se disolviera para ganar dinero de diferentes formas.

La búsqueda de cada integrante puede ser graciosa o entretenida, puede tener un musical o escenas tontas de los protagonistas, para ser de 1980 su humor no es tan tonto como podría ser, tiene sus momentos Looney toons donde no tiene sentido pero creo que es el atractivo de la película, que se vea que no es seria. Recuerdo que en la segunda película hay fantasmas o espíritus, algo que no tiene nada que ver con el blues.

Anteriormente siempre me confundía cuando cambiaban a los actores principales, pensaba que eran los mismos pero más viejos o más gordos. En este caso, en la segunda parte cambiaron a John Belushi, no por algún problema con su actitud o algo por el estilo, sino por su fallecimiento en 1982, dos años después de estrenarse la película.

Es curioso como llegue a buscar de nuevo esta película, solo miraba un documental sobre películas cuando lo nombraron a el y recordé que había hecho esta película, fue una de mis favoritas de niño por no conocer tantos musicales, o que no habían tantos para aquel entonces. Blues Brothers ha sido una película de cultos para muchos y aunque no haya ganado tantos premios, es sin duda una de las películas que cualquier cinefilo debería ver.
