The Whale (Reseña/Review)

On this occasion, it is a job that makes him explode in acting, because he moves little and because his facial expression is the only clue we have of how the character he plays feels, his low mobility makes him have to express himself better with little, which It has made actors like Pedro Pascal or Tom Hardy have been applauded for playing roles where you can hardly see their faces or can't see them at all. On this occasion, the face is the only thing that can have freedom in the role of Brendan, coming to exploit all possible feelings in the shots.

The character of her daughter came to bother me on many occasions, the characters with her attitude make me desperate, she is a problematic teenager because she believes she deserves something better, blaming her parents for everything; and even if she is somewhat right in this case, it is not something that really matters to the viewer too much. The character of Thomas caught my attention because he was too stupid and that gave me a bad feeling, it didn't turn out to be as bad as I expected but I still had the feeling that he would steal or do something bad to Charlie.

At various times my eyes filled with tears, I don't really know the reason, because even history shows us how Charlie has been a careless person with those around him, but that I has empathy for him, his obesity is It may be due at the time of going into depression for everything that happened, and although some memory hurts in his mind, he continues to smile and trying to make his students and his daughter see a sincere and happy face, something that moved me too much.

Although in many moments they show us situations in which we can see how Charlie is a person full of goodness, it seems that his story repressed him from being so, or from showing it completely, it is a story that could well talk about obesity, homosexuality, being a good father, but there is even some sexism on the tape, due to the way Charlie decides to repress his feelings to show himself as a man at least in sight, without making fun of his tastes but only of his appearance. It is a film that I liked a lot and it is emotional in many moments, I really recommend it.

The Whale es una de las grandes películas que han prometido los últimos meses, tuve que esperar sino hasta que saliera en cines en mi país para poder verla, por no encontrarla en ningún lado, más que nada porque Brendan era uno de mis actores favoritos en sus años de actuación, no por ser alguien muy metódico o dramático, sino mas bien carismático y elocuente.

En esta ocasión es un trabajo que lo hace explotar en actuación, por moverse poco y que su expresión facial sea la única pista que tengamos de como se siente el personaje que interpreta, su poca movilidad lo hace tener que expresarse mejor con poco, lo que ha hecho que actores como Pedro Pascal o Tom Hardy han sido aplaudidos por hacer papeles en donde no se les ve casi el rostro o no se les ve para nada. En esta ocasión el rostro es lo único que puede tener libertad en el papel de Brendan, llegando a explotar todos los sentimientos posibles en las tomas.

El personaje de su hija llego a molestarme en muchas ocasiones, los personajes con su actitud llegan a desesperarme, es una vista de una adolescente problemática porque cree merecer algo mejor, culpando a sus padres de todo; y aunque tenga algo de razón en este caso, no es algo que realmente le importe demasiado al espectador. El personaje de Thomas llamaba mi atención porque era demasiado tonto y eso me daba mala espina, no resulto ser tan malo como esperaba pero aun tenia la sensación de que llegaría a robar o hacerle algo malo a Charlie.

En varios momentos mis ojos se llenaron de lagrimas, no sabría muy bien la razón, porque incluso la historia nos muestra como Charlie ha sido una persona descuidada con los de su alrededor, pero que se le tiene una empatia por su persona, su obesidad se puede deber al momento de entrar en depresión por todo lo ocurrido, y aunque le duela algún recuerdo en su mente, sigue sonriendo e intentando hacer que sus estudiantes y su hija vean un rostro sincero y feliz, algo que me conmovió demasiado.

Aunque en muchos momentos nos muestran situaciones en las que podamos ver como Charlie es una persona llena de bondad, parece ser que su historia lo reprimió de serlo, o de mostrarlo completamente, es una historia que bien podría hablar de obesidad, de homosexualidad, de ser un buen padre, pero hasta algo de machismo hay en la cinta, por la forma en como Charlie decide reprimir sus sentimientos para mostrarse como un hombre al menos en vista, sin burlarse de el de sus gustos sino solo de su apariencia. Es un film que me gusto bastante y es emotivo en muchos momentos, realmente lo recomiendo.
