Hunger (2008)

a Themovieplace short review and recommendation to the Steemit Community

Hello dear friends and steemians, today is another movie recommendation and I prepared something very good for you and it's about the movie Hunger (2008) which is a very little known movie, directed by Steve McQueen who made also the movies Shame (2011) and 12 Years a Slave (2013), being a director who like to make biographical and drama movies and so far has managed to do a wonderful work as a director and for the year 2018 has the next project which is named Widows (2018) and plays actors like Jon Bernthal, Liam Neeson, Colin Farrell, Viola Davis, Robert Duvall and others, being a great cast. I do not even remember how I found this movie but I'm glad that I found it and for those who did not know, Michael Fassbender has an important role in this movie and is one of his best roles until now as a actor from what I've seen. Let's get started and see why I liked this movie and I'll explain a few things about it.

Short Review(Possible spoilers)

1.JPG

The movie begins with Raymond Lohan which is a prison officer who is preparing to go to work and he check his car if does not have a bomb and in this time his wife checked him out from the window worrying about it. We see Raymond taking a break in the prison yard enjoying a cigarette and the free time in which he feels more relaxed being horrified to return in the building.

A new prisoner arrives by the name Davey Gillen who don't want to comply with the rules of the prison refusing to wear the uniform. The guards send him naked just with a blanket in the cell where he meets Gerry Campbell his cellmate who has smeared the cell walls with faeces for the no wash protest. The two prisoners start a conversation through which they start to know a few small things one from the other and each one tells how many years he has received.

The prison officers remove the prisoners violently to be able to cut their hair and beard and in the picture we see Bobby Sands (Michael Fassbender) who fight back and trying to make the officers job to be difficult and they have to beat him to achieve their purpose and Raymond Lohan hurts his hand hitting the wall by mistake. I know it's a bit short description but I want to let you know more about this movie which is based on real facts which took place in Northern Ireland and the movie tells us that 2187 people died in the violences from 1969 to 1981. The images are unbearable sometimes and is made quite realistic, the actors played the roles very well in particular Michael Fassbender which at that time was an unknown actor, but also Stuart Graham who did a great job interpreting the officer Raymond Lohan who despite having a short role he managed to do his job. If you want a certain genre to be recommended for tomorrow you can ask for it and I'll try to find a movie which you have not seen yet, or if you've seen it I hope you enjoyed it (without anime and documentary), and will win the genre which is required by the majority.

My rating 8/10(the movie have some gross moments and if you have any problems with this then I don't recommend you to see it)

I am sure it is a really good movie. But I stopped watching heavy movies. The world is so full of heavy, sad things that when I watch a movie, I want to get away from all of that!
