Today I selected the movie It Follows (2014) for the daily movie recommendation which is directed by David Robert Mitchell which is his second film, the first being The Myth of the American Sleepover (2010) which I have not seen yet but I'm curious to see it because I liked it enormously It Follows, managing to do something magnificent with a low budget of $2,000,000 estimated. I'm glad to see such films who don't need to introduce monsters to scare you and just few movies can do that, but it upset me the thing that this movie was criticized by the viewers who did not like the film and probably they did not realize that have watched a psychological horror . Critics also did not appreciated this movie well when was released, but now I noticed on rottentomatoes that he have a great rating of 97% think that i like. Let's get started and see why I liked this movie and I'll explain a few things about it.

First of all I really liked how it was shot the movie and how he managed to be a mystery from the beginning until the end thing that not everyone liked it because it's hard to understand this movie if you are not used to psihological movies which for some seem a waste of time and offers a low score just because they did not understand the movie.

For the beginning it seemed to be just a horror movie with adolescents but in the meantime you realize that there is something more and I really don't want to tell you more to not ruin the movie.

I liked also the cast who despite having names that are not so well known they managed to surprise me, especially Maika Monroe which I've seen in Labor Day (2013) and The Guest (2014) where she managed to do good roles as well. In my opinion It Follows is one of the most underrated movies and I will probably include it in the new list of The Moust Underrated Movies Of All Time Part 3 which I hope to make in the coming days. In conclusion It Follows is among the most frightening horror movies of the last decade and if you're a real horror fan this is one to see. I recommend you to see it and I'm curious about your opinions, also don't forget to request the movie genre which you like to be recommended for tomorrow.

My rating 9/10

I would have really loved this movie if it weren't for the time-period ambiguity.

I get what they were going for: classic 80s horror thriller feel but taking place in more of an "anytime" period; trying to get rid of time constraints and the limiting stereotypes that make a movie "dated" after 10 years or so.

But I don't think it was pulled off well at all. It had a hugely 80s theme to it, beyond just the style of directing. Their clothes and demeanors screamed 80s, the home decor, and even a few of the cars were period cars (which you don't see too often nowadays).

Ok, 80s horror film. Awesome, who doesn't love those?

But what the hell was that reader in her cute little plastic clamshell compact?! That's something we don't even have today. Completely threw me out of the movie and destroyed the atmosphere for me. There were a few other things that I can't remember, but I spent so much time trying to figure out the time period issue that I couldn't immerse myself in the story.

LOVE the concept though! Excellent storyline, writing, acting, and the directing was great. You can feel the dread of a slowly dropping blade.

    Sorry this was long! :)
