Today I selected the movie The Witch (2015) for the daily movie recommendation which is directed by Robert Eggers who made his debut in the movie world with this exciting and unique horror movie which impressed me considering that is his own script. Ever since I saw the trailer I assumed that will be a good movie and so it was despite the fact that it also had a small budget of $3,500,000 and here I mean that has a much lower budget than Hollywood movies which far exceed this amount and they fail to make something so original and enjoyable like this movie. Let's get started and see why I liked this movie and I'll explain a few things about it.
The film begins with the expulsion of a Christian family and the main defendant is William which dishonored the laws of the community and the church. I really liked the color shades that were used in the film which gave a value and originality to this Folktale film which is totally different from what horror movies I saw and I hope you like it too.
After they were banished, the family settled near to a forest which is not a very safe place for childrens and that's why William and Katherine forbid their children to play too close to the forest. I really liked how Robert Eggers uses the forest making it a scary place and manages to do this without introducing scary characters.
I really enjoyed the acting of Anya Taylor-Joy about which I can say that is a great promise who also played a good role in the movie Split (2016) and is on the right track for a successful career. In conclusion The Witch is a very good horror in my opinion who managed to come up with something good and if you wonder that the movie resembles with Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013) I assure you that this is not the case and I will include it in the list of the most underrated movies off all time. I recommend this movie to everyone and I'm curious about your opinions , also don't forget to request the movie genre which you like to be recommended for tomorrow.
