Queen of Katwe is biographical drama film.

The film tells the story of Phiona Mutesi, an Ugandan girl living in a slum in Katwe. She learns to play chess and becomes a Woman Candidate Master after her victories at World Chess Olympiads.

Katwe, is a slum in Kampala, Uganda. 10-year-old Phiona lives there with her mother and her younger siblings. She and her younger brother help their mother selling in the market. She also has other duties, such as taking care for her baby brother.
One day she meets Robert Katende who teaches children to play chess at a local center. Phiona learns the game and soon becomes a top player.
